Are you really alright, Jack? Pollyanna-ism and the 99% in Australia - article by Sally Pepper "IndyWatch Feed National"

(Article by Sally Pepper.) On New Year's Day, January 1st 2018, as I surfaced around 10.00 a.m, I heard on the news that power prices and tolls on roads around Melbourne will both increase and, that this year many Victorians will experience additional economic hardship. My immediate defensive thought was, "Well I don't use tollroads and I guess I can be more frugal with my use of gas and electricity."

But on reflection, this is, in a way, beside the point. Such thinking does not ward off forever the effects of these increases. Many people rely on toll roads to get to work each day. The fact that I don't use them only puts me at a slight advantage to those who need to use them. It is not in any way to my benefit though that other people are being disadvantaged in their daily struggle to feed their families and pay the mortgage. It is also beside the point as these increases are, unfortunately, only part of a progression. Tolls will go on increasing, as will power prices. Beside this, there will be more toll roads until I won't be able to avoid them. I also will be caught in their web. I can delay the impact but I can't avoid it.

Where are we headed? Not only I will be caught but so will many others who hitherto have felt untouched by the imposed hardships on those less fortunate. There will be a cascade of those affected. The tentacles of the owners of toll roads and power companies will eventually have most of us in their grip. After all, this is all about maintaining that ratio of the 1% as opposed to the 99% . Remember the "Occupy Movement"?

Precipice complacency

Many people I know count themselves lucky, comparing themselves with those who are not as well off. They do not see themselves as affected by the rising inequality in Australia. This "glass half full" attitude is so much more socially approved of than mine, which compares my lot with both what it used to be and also what it could have been were it not for the 1%. To me "glass half full" attitude is a sort of misplaced Pollianna-ism and given what I believe from the trend I observe it is really a sort of "precipice complacency."

It seems that all will be taken from those who don't own the means to extract from the majority. Those about to lose are those who now feel secure, even somewhat wealthy: those with superannu...

"3 Simple Questions That Will Change Your Life" "IndyWatch Feed National"

"3 Simple Questions That Will Change Your Life"
by Jonathan

"I love simple solutions to seemingly complex issues, dont you? So often we seem to complicate the daylights out of things by over-analyzing, dissecting and brainstorming. I gravitate toward simple solutions whenever possible. Asking yourself the right question is one of the simplest ways to direct your thoughts in a positive direction without jumping through a bunch of mental or emotional hoops. What are the right questions? In particular, those that stimulate your mind to consider new possibilities or interrupt old established response patterns. Basically, any question stimulates actions or thoughts that can change your life for the better.

Why do questions work so well? As soon as we ask ourselves a question, our mind immediately begins searching for an answer. Our mind thrives on questions because they provide it with incentive, direction and focus. So the right questions give us a simple way to steer our thought processes in a more empowering direction. In this way questions can be used as simple tools to change your life and broadening your perception of the world around you. I regularly use the following three questions with my coaching clients to lead their thinking away from limiting thought patterns and toward thoughts of new possibilities.

1. What else could this mean? We all assign different meani...

Will England Break-Up Not Just the United Kingdom "IndyWatch Feed National"

QUESTION: Hi Martin.

In your recent blog posts, you talk about the possible timing of the break up of Britain but you talk about that in terms of the regionalisation or break up of England only. Have you not said before that Scotland is likely to become independent sometime in the next few years? Perhaps you could explain how that possibility fits in this process?

Thanks

CGB

ANSWER: There are two expansions on the island of Britain. The more commonly know is the formation of the United Kington which too place in 1707 under Queen Ann. That saw Scotland under English Rule3. However, before the reign of Eadgar (959-975 AD), England was divided into Anglo-Saxon kingdoms. It was Eadgar who instituted a uniform coinage throughout the land. While Eadgar set the pattern for the reformed coinage of the later Anglo-Saxon and Norman period and standardized the use of the kings portrait as in old Roman tradition.

Happy New Year! "IndyWatch Feed National"

2018 is going to be a fun fun year. And to better prepare yourself for all the merrymaking here is a calendar of some of the more delightful things to look forward to.

February 16: The United States bans entry to the country of all people except white Christian and Jewish citizens of Canada, the UK, New Zealand, Australia, and Israel.

February 18: Congress passes a law that requires all new citizens to submit an essay in excellent English about how brilliant Donald J. Trump is, how devoted they are to him, what a huge success hes been, how hes going to make America great again, and how modest a man he is.

March 1: The Mueller Investigation announces the discovery of a citizen of Vladivostok, Russia who on July 16, 2016 wrote an email to his cousin in Baltimore expressing his dismay at all the violence that had been unleashed in the Middle East following the overthrow of Muammar Gaddafi in Libya, which, he wrote, was instigated by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Such interference in an American election will not be tolerated, declared Muellers office.

March 6: The government of El Salvador is overthrown in a coup. The United States blames Russia.

March 15: Members of Ukraines neo-Nazi parties, which hold several high positions in the US-supported government, goose-step through the center of Kiev in full German Storm Trooper uniforms, carrying giant swastika flags, shouting Heil Hitler, and singing the Horst Wessel song. When left-wingers attempt to block them police intervene to arrest the left-wingers. Not a word of this appears in any American mainstream media. President Trump tweets there are lots of bad people on both sides.

March 26: The government of Paraguay is overthrown in a coup. The United States blames Russia.

April 1: Trump declares that the United States has never invaded another country nor has ever overthrown a foreign government. He adds that this is not an April Fools Day joke.

April 15: The government of Egypt is overthrown in a coup. The United States blames Russia.

April 28: A new Harvard study concludes that .00001 percent of the American population now possesses 99.999 percent of all financial assets.

May 12: The Republican Party calls for giving fetuses the vote.

June 3: US demands that Iran destroy all planes and bombs in their country, all pistols and rifles, all knives over 2 inches, and all baseball bats.

Venezuela Prepares for the Launch of the Petro "IndyWatch Feed National"

It would appear some details regarding Venezuelas own cryptocurrency have come to light. We already know it goes by the name of Petro. Moreover, this is an oil-backed currency. It is also a response to the worsening financial crisis in Venezuela today. It seems President Maduro has ordered the issuance of 100 million Petros moving forward. An interesting decision, considering the whitepaper has yet to be revealed.

Everyone knows Venezuela is not a fun place to live right now. Growing inflation and no viable solutions create a very uneasy ecosystem. Issuing a national cryptocurrency seems to be the only option left worth exploring. President Nicolas Maduro has confirmed the Petro will come to market in the next few months. So far, no one knows the exact specifics of this currency, at least on the technical side. The value of this currency is backed by the countrys vast oil reserves.

Introducing the Petro in Venezuela

It would appear the first batch of Petro coins will be issued soon. A supply of 100 million Petros will be brought into circulation. This number is not chosen randomly either Instead, it is based on national wealth. Every Petro has the same value as a barrel of Venezuelan oil. An interesting prospect, as it should ultimately inject a lot of money into this new currency. The big question is whether or not there will be any interest by foreigners to obtain this new currency.

It is also expected the think tank behind the Petro currency will convene next week. It will also be the first national meeting of this new currencys miners. For now, we still have no idea how this currency will be mined exactly. After all, since it is backed by oil reserves, there seems no reason to mine anything. A better option is to create batches of this currency like Tether does. For now, we have to speculate as to how things will play out for Venezuelas new currency.

When the whitepaper is unveiled, things will become a lot clearer. For now, no one in Venezuela knows what to expect from the Petro exactly. There are still a lot of questions which need to be answered, to say the least. It would also be good to know which blockchain will be used to issue this new currency. A private ledger seems to be the most obvious choice in this regard. How all of this will play out, has yet to be determined. Its certainly an interesting development to keep an eye on.

January 7 On This Day in Australian History "IndyWatch Feed National"

1788 - Tassie sighted the First Fleet...but Tassie didn't find anything about them to write home about.

1799 - Bass and Flinders completed their circumnavigation waltz of Van Diemens Land with a dosey-do and a bow to your partner.

1810 - The speech given by Gov Macquarie upon being sworn in was published on this day in the Sydney Gazette included a special mention of Indigenous persons;" I need not, I hope, express my wish that the Natives of this Country, when they come in the Way
in a peaceable Manner, may not be molested in their Persons or Property by anyone; but that,
on the contrary, they may always be treated with Kindness and Attention, so as to conciliate them
as much as possible to our Government and Manners."

1814 - Australia's first boxing match took place in Sydney. John Parton defeated Charles Sefton over 56 rounds without Anthony Mundine in sight.

1830 - Explorer Charles Sturt had some spare time on his hands so he went for a jaunt by whaleboat down the Murrumbidgee River and entered "a broad and noble river" which he named the Murray River (14th January). By February he had eyeballed Lake Alexandria and began the return journey along the Murray River against the current. Each Aboriginal community along the river had its own name: to those of the lower river it was Murrundi, for those upstream near Echuca in Victoria it was Millewa, and near its source it was Indi.
Lake Alexandrina was variously called Parnka, Kayinga or Mungkulli.

1832 - George Augustus Robinson arrived in Hobart with Aborigines from Oyster Bay and Big River tribes - the so-called " last of the Aborigines" from settled districts - to be resettled in the Bass Strait islands.
The Hobart Courier reported on this day;
"It is with no small pleasure we announce the gratifying news that the whole of the Oyster bay and Big river tribes, the most sanguinary in the island, have surrendered themselves to Mr. Robinson, by whose conciliatory intervention the desirable event has been mainly brought about. They consist of 16 men, 9 women and 3 children, and may be expected in town to day to join the Aboriginal Establishment at Great island,by the Charlotte now in the harbour."

1835 - The Noongar People of West Australia were evicted from their campsite at Lake Monger as they were considered a threat to William Leeder and his farm which had been established when he took up land grants in 1832.

1838 - The first attempt to create a Native Police Corps in Victoria came unstuck on this day a bare 10 weeks after it was begun; the Superintendent , Christaan de Villiers, had spat the dummy and resigned due to the missionary George Langhorne sticking his nose in and making malicious complaints.
When Langhorne was made Police Superintendent the police refused to wo...

Cops kill veteran who accidentally pushed medical alert button "IndyWatch Feed National"

A police officer who shot and killed an innocent 68-year-old mentally ill veteran who accidentally hit the medical emergency button in his home, will face no consequences after acting U.S. Attorney Joon Kim determined that there was insufficient evidence to press charges. The victim, Kenneth Chamberlain, accidentally triggered a medical alert through "Life Aid," which prompted police to visit his home. When the officers arrived unexpectedly, Chamberlain told the responding officers that he was OK and did not need any help. He refused to answer his door, and instead called Life Aid and told them that he did not need the police at his home. "I have the White Plains Police Department banging on my door, and I did not call them and I am not sick," Chamberlain told the dispatcher on the phone. However, the officers refused to leave and initiated a standoff with Chamberlain, allegedly taunting him with racial slurs, according to his family.

In 2017, Nearly 100 Times More Americans Were Killed by Police Than Terrorists "IndyWatch Feed National"

Matt Agorist, The Free Thought Project
Waking Times Media

In the United States, in 2017, according to the government data, eight events took place on American soil that were classified as acts of terrorism. The combined death toll from all eight terroristic acts in 2017 is 12. Twelve people were killed on American soil by other people attempting to make a political statement through an act of violence and yet we are told the threat of terror inside the United States is at an all-time high. Nothing could be further from the truth.

However, there is another number that is particularly worrisome and it has to do with how many people American police have killed this year. As of the publishing of this article, the number of people whove been killed by police in 2017 is 1,184. This is nearly 100 times the number of people killed by terrorists inside the United States this year and yet the government and the media at large remain entirely silent on this violent epidemic.

While the shootings in Nevada and Texas were horrific and some of the deadliest to take place on American soil, they are not technically classified as terrorism as they were not carried out in the name of a political ideology. Even if we include the deaths from these mass shootings, police have still killed far more people than all the mass shooters in 2017 combined.

Our televisions and politicians constantly remind us of this essentially nonexistent terror threat while ignoring the very real threat from law enforcement. The victims of law enforcement are written off by society because their guilt is assumed and therefore they are dehumanized easily dismissed.

When the ostensible protectors of our even more ostensible freedoms are nearly 100 times more deadly than the people we are told hate our freedoms, something is definitely wrong.

Why is it that cops in America kill more people than any other civilized country? Do we have a higher crime rate?

The short answer is no. If we look at our neighbors across the pond in the United Kingdom, their total crimes per 1,000 citizens is 109.9...

Melted roads and bushfires strike Australia during catastrophic heatwave "IndyWatch Feed National"

Emergency services in southeast Australia are warning people to stay indoors as a dangerous heatwave batters the country, with temperatures so high that the asphalt on some roads has been melting. The "catastrophic" hot weather caused a 10km stretch of the Hume Highway, near the Victoria state capital Melbourne, to become soft and sticky, causing havoc for motorists trying to enter the city. Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania have now declared a total fire ban after blazes on the outskirts of Melbourne raged out of control, destroying buildings and threatening lives. It took a team of 300 firefighters, 50 trucks and three helicopters to tackle one fire in Victoria's Carrum Downs on Saturday, which threatened dozens of homes.

Its 2018. Here Are Six Scientific Mysteries We Still Havent Solved. "IndyWatch Feed National"

By Victor Tangermann , Futurism

Humans have made a staggering amount of scientific and technological progress over the past century. Weve created technology that has transformed our society; scientific advances have helped us answer fundamental questions about who we are and the world that we inhabit. And, yet, mysteries persist.

Why are we compelled to sleep every night? Why are we still not able to see dark matter? And where the heck are all the aliens?

People have debated questions like these for decades  sometimes centuries. Fortunately, our unfaltering will to uncover the worlds mysteries has brought us closer to some answers than ever before. Here are six mysteries that still keep scientists up at night, and how close they are to solving them.

Why Do We Need Sleep?

Why do we need sleep? This may seem like a straightforward question, but the answer is far more complex than you might think. There have been countless attempts to find a definitive reason as to why humans need to sleep every night, but scientists are still unable to offer a single, definitive answer.

Findings in sleep science have shed some light on the intricacies of sleep stages and brain activity, but ultimately, they have merely offered pieces to an ever-growing, incomplete puzzle. It doesnt help that we dont have much to compare ourselves to  as sleeping patterns and brain activity in other animals often deviate significantly from those of humans, further mysti...

Joining historic 'medical' research which looked at the incidence of legume anorexia amongst children comes a ground-breaking article 'The science behind "man flu"' "IndyWatch Feed Northcoast"

Following on the very successful research behind The Etiology and Treatment of Childhood first published sometime last century comes the British Medical Journals release of more recent research articulated in The science behind man flu (11 December 2017).

In which women find out that:

The concept of man flu, as commonly defined, is potentially unjust. Men may not be exaggerating symptoms but have weaker immune responses to viral respiratory viruses, leading to greater morbidity and mortality than seen in women. There are benefits to energy conservation when ill. Lying on the couch, not getting out of bed, or receiving assistance with activities of daily living could also be evolutionarily behaviours that protect against predators. Perhaps now is the time for male friendly spaces, equipped with enormous televisions and reclining chairs, to be set up where men can recover from the debilitating effects of man flu in safety and comfort.

Ah, the hardships of the male condition are manifold.

War on homeless must be answered with a revolution against the ruling class

A WAR on homeless people has begun, with moves to make begging illegal, effectively criminalising poverty, while using the police to drive homeless people out of royal Windsor, and then presumably out of all towns and cities.

Tory Councillor Simon Dudley, of the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead has vowed to drive every single homeless person out of the borough in time for the royal wedding in May, so that the sight of homeless people does not lower the tone of the royal wedding.

Dudley has now demanded that the police take immediate action to drive homeless people and desperately poor people begging for money out of the borough. In a letter written to the Berkshire Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC), he wrote: The whole situation presents a beautiful town in a sadly unfavourable light. The level of tourist interest is set to multiply with the royal wedding in May 2018, and there are increased concerns from our residents about their safety.

Without Single-Payer American Health Care is Doomed "IndyWatch Feed National"

Of all the forms of inequality, injustice in health is the most shocking and inhuman.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Second National Convention of the Medical Committee for Human Rights, Chicago, March 25, 1966.

It is the year 2018, and yet not a day goes by when a patient is unable to receive good care or a doctor questions their career choice.  How have we arrived at this tragic state of affairs? The answer is that our for-profit health care system is the principal cause, not only of poor patient care, but also of physician burnout. Only with a single-payer system, anchored not in the mores of capitalist plunder, but with the understanding that quality government-funded health care is an inalienable right, can both doctors and patients extricate themselves from this suffering.

Even amongst patients that are insured, restrictive health care plans force millions of Americans to work with doctors that they do not wish to work with. No less disconcerting is the fact that Americans are often compelled to stop working with doctors that they have known for years and do not wish to leave. In conjunction with a complicated health condition I have seen dozens of different doctors over the past two years. Should my insurance suddenly change, this painstakingly constructed system of specialists could come crashing to the ground. Moreover, being forced to leave a doctor that you have known for years is a shame, not only because no one will know your medical problems quite like they do, but because once a good doctor-patient relationship is lost it is gone forever.

This revolving door is also very harmful for physicians, because if a doctor has a practice with patients incessantly coming and going, this will invariably foment alienation which can be a driving force behind physician burnout.

The argument that a single-payer system would be impossible to implement in practice, is contradicted by the fact that the overwhelming majority of countries in the West from Vancouver to Vladivostok, have nationalized health care systems that guarantee universal coverage for all of their citizens. The GDP of Cuba is mere pennies compared to that of the United States, and yet all of their citizens enjoy excellent free health care, with an infant mortality rate lower than that of the United States. (They also enjoy superior literacy rates). How can we call ourselves a civilized nation when millions of Americans with serious illnesses are more fearful of bankruptcy and losing their insurance, than they are of death from widespread disease?

A single-payer system recognizes that it is deeply immoral and inhumane to give superior care to the upper middle class and affluent, while denying good care to vast segments of the population. In the absence of a nationalized health care system,....

Is it safe to have fluoride in toothpaste? "IndyWatch Feed National"

Tej Katpitia Jan 5 2018,
Oral health is a reflection of a healthy body. It is important to consume the right food and use safe products to ensure good oral health. The use of silver diamine fluoride has been frequently questioned for its side-effects. Although it is a naturally occurring mineral used in toothpastes to resolve dental problems, is it really worth it?

ToothpasteDecades ago, it was found that children, who grew up in regions with high concentrations of naturally occurring fluoride in water, had less tooth decay compared to those in other regions. Gradually, fluoride was added to water and people saw depletion of dental illnesses. But a few years down the line, it was found that fluoride is a neurotoxin that affects the nervous tissue.
Though it is still believed that addition of fluoride in toothpastes and water is beneficial for dental hygiene, it is critical to spread awareness for its possible side-effects. Even a tiny amount of toothpaste is hazardous to health when consumed on a regular basis and may cause diseases like skeletol fuorisis and osteosarcoma.
While it is important to consume a nutrient-rich diet to keep your pearly whites healthy, switching to non-fluoride toothpaste is equally vital. Brands have used relevant herbs substituting chemical agents, to provide naturally infused, healthier and safer alternatives.
A combination of herbs like clove, cinnamon, pepper and many others could be a power-packed answer to holistic dental care.

Powering up: The biggest battery breakthroughs of 2017 "IndyWatch Feed National"

A researcher in Australia holds up a rechargeable zinc-air battery

Slowly but surely battery technology is improving wonderfully. As I have posted before it has the ability to ultimately change out our grid by the simple expedient of powering up at source and physically transporting charged batteries to the market, now including houses and cars.  This naturally increase the utilization of all power-plants by two to four fold.

We could switch out gasoline to electrics and not build a single power plant.

This is also largely in motion.  There are plenty of alternative power sources in the pipeline as well but this is the natural way to transition to them..

https://newatlas.com/battery-breakthroughs-2017/52559/

Batteries are the engine room for so much of the modern world, from smartphones to laptops and weird new scooters to the emerging fleets of autonomous trucks. So there are plenty of folks with an interest in pushing battery technology forward, and 2017 brought a raft of exciting breakthroughs aimed at making them safer, longer-lasting, faster-charging and more cost effective. Here's the best of the bunch.

Safety first

The chances of lithium-ion batteries failing is very low, but with so many of them in use everyday the chances of something going wrong somewhere in the world are very real. Flaming Samsung smartphones and exploding "hoverboards" (we're still reluctant to call them that, but whatever) are evidence of that.

Today's batteries already come with chips embedded that track voltage, temperature and the charge they are holding, allowing for warning systems like the one you'll see on an iPhone screen when the handset gets too hot. But researchers are always looking for ways to keep them cool, and one way of achieving this could be to substitute the combustible electrolyte, th...

It remains unidentified as of this writing.

Why it is specific to Kangaroos also needs to be understood..

New Water Pump. "IndyWatch Feed National"

I decided that as we have so much excess solar power I would be better off with an electric water pump to pump water from our lower collection 5000 gallon cement water tank to our upper house feed tank than the petrol fire pump we have been using. Survival wise we will probably always have 240 volt solar power, but we may not always have fuel!
So I purchased an electric water pump with what fittings I needed, & my wife came up with the idea of using a storage container to keep it in.

The Weekend Quiz January 6-7, 2017 answers and discussion "IndyWatch Feed Nsw"

Here are the answers with discussion for this Weekends Quiz. The information provided should help you work out why you missed a question or three! If you havent already done the Quiz from yesterday then have a go at it before you read the answers. I hope this helps you develop an understanding of modern monetary theory (MMT) and its application to macroeconomic thinking. Comments as usual welcome, especially if I have made an error.

Question 1:

A rising fiscal deficit indicates an expansionary shift in government policy and the challenge is to ensure the nominal demand stimulus does not exceed the real capacity of the economy to respond by increasing real output.

The answer is False.

This question has two premises a statement and a related consequence. In this case the statement that rising government deficit indicates an expansionary shift in policy is false and the related consequence that the challenge is to calibrate that expansion to ensure nominal demand growth does not exceed the real capacity of the economy to respond by increasing real output is true.

Taken together the answer is false.

First, it is clearly central to the concept of fiscal sustainability that governments attempt to manage aggregate demand so that nominal growth in spending is consistent with the ability of the economy to respond to it in real terms. So full employment and price stability are connected goals and MMT demonstrates how a government can achieve both with some help from a buffer stock of jobs (the Job Guarantee).

Second, the statement that a rising government deficit indicates an expansionary shift in policy is exploring the issue of decomposing the observed fiscal balance into the discretionary (now called structural) and cyclical components. The latter component is driven by the automatic stabilisers that are in-built into the fiscal process.

The federal fiscal balance is the difference between total federal revenue and total federal outlays. So if total revenue is greater than outlays, the fiscal outcome is in surplus and vice versa. It is a simple matter of accounting with no theory involved. However, the fiscal balance is used by all and sundry to indicate the fiscal stance of the government.

So if the fiscal outcome is in surplus it is often concluded that the fiscal impact of government is contractionary (withdrawing net spending) and if the fiscal outcome is in deficit we say the fiscal impact expansionary (adding net spending).

Further, a rising deficit (falling surplus) is often considered to be reflecting an e...

Black Ops Agent Claims He Was Paid To Bomb OKC in the 1990s By Deep State Hours Later Has A Car Crash "IndyWatch Feed National"

Former independent Black Ops Contractor Robert Cody Snodgres took to the airwaves early last month to allege he was offered a massive $1 million dollar paycheck from the CIA to bomb the Alfred P. The 1990s 9/11, so to speak, where evidence doesnt add up was originally and officially blamed on fertilizer bombs perpetrated by Timothy McVeigh and his accomplice Terry L. Nichols

Its a weaved web of deceit; the investigation was a cover-up in every sense of the word, and may finally get wings for exposure.

The question is why if there is nothing to hide? That question may finally be answered with Snodgres, a career Independent Contractor.

How Castor Oil Can Simplify Your Beauty Regimen "IndyWatch Feed National"

By Dr. Mercola

Castor oil is a translucent vegetable oil with a yellow tint that is derived from the seeds of the castor plant. It is an unsaturated omega-9 fat well-known for having a distinctive, nauseating taste. Depending on your age, you may remember being forced to drink castor oil, perhaps to relieve constipation, which some thought was associated with a childs unpleasant mood.

Despite its strong taste, castor oil has been used for millennia to treat medical conditions most notably digestive issues, including constipation and dysentery. In modern times, castor oil continues to be used in laxatives, as well as in a wide variety of everyday items from cleaning products, coatings and cosmetics to paints, plastics and perfumes.

Although some users of castor oil complain of negative reactions, such as itching, rashes and swelling, others praise it for its anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and moisturizing effects. If you have not yet tried castor oil, you may want to consider using it for your face and skin, particularly as part of the oil cleansing method.

Castor Oil Has Long Been Used as a Fuel and Laxative

Castor oil is made by pressing the seeds of the castor plant (Ricinus communis), which is native to India and has since appeared in tropical areas within Africa and Asia. It has a long history of use as a fuel and a laxative.1,2 In India, the use of castor seed oil as a laxative and a fuel for lamps dates back to 2000 B.C. Castor oil is known as a cleanser and purifier in Ayurvedic tradition, which also promotes it as a cure for arthritic diseases.

Castor seed oil was also used as a fuel and laxative by the Greeks, as well as the Egyptians, in whose ancient tombs castor seeds have been found. It appeared in Europe during the early Middle Ages for similar applications, and later fell into disuse.

Today, castor oil is found in hundreds of cosmetic products. It continues to be regarded for its laxative effects and is sometimes still used to induce labor. It also has many industrial uses such as in the production of nylon and other synthetic fibers, as well as resins. Castor oil is found in food containers, insulation, motor oil, paint, plastics, soap and varnish.3

How Exit From The Matrix could change your life "IndyWatch Feed National"

How Exit From The Matrix could change your life

by Jon Rappoport

January 6, 2018

Inside the psyche of the individual, something is going on. Something profound.

The creative impulse.

This is where the life blood of the soul lives.

Human beings chained to The Mechanical dont realize it. Theyre looking for the next resolution to the next problem.

The creative impulse cant be taken apart and separated into discrete elements. It cant be sliced and diced. It cant be made into an equation.

A person learns about his own creative impulse by acting on it. By creating.

This is far too simple for academics and professionals.

A revolution occurs when the individual throws off the shroud of consensus reality and creates what he truly wants to.

Life is never the same again.

The creative impulse carries with it just one imperative: CREATE.

Decide what to create and do it.

That isnt hard to understand.

When a person creates what he wants to, he establishes a new channel(s) of self-knowledge beyond words. He grasps an inner connection to the core of his being. He experiences it first-hand.

Time and time again, I have read writers who compose works about creativity. Inevitably, they come to a point where they add some extra piece: it is the really the universe that is giving a person permission to create; there is a field the individual taps into in order to create; there is a collective consciousness that is entered.

On and on it goes. Whereas, in fact, THE INDIVIDUAL CREATES. PERIOD.

There is no extra aspect that somehow determines and rules the creative impulse.

To create or not to create; that is the question.

That is the basic question which determines human psychology. If the answer is YES, you get one dynamic psychology. If the answer is NO, you get another essentially passive psychology, and then you also get endless problems, which are misunderstood.

In my mega-collection, Exit From The Matrix, I include profound imagination exercises which, when practiced on a daily basis, can help bring an individuals creative impulse front and center, and can help him unleash his creative power.

This is the underlying goal of my work.......

Nostradamus Prophecies for 2018: World War 3 and the Collapse of the Global Economy "IndyWatch Feed National"

It seems just about every year people go over the prophecies Nostradamus has laid out for us. When it comes to looking into this you need to remember that his predictions have been a bit too accurate, they have been accurate to an extent that honestly could be considered TERRIFYING.

According to Nostradamus prophecies as described in his book Les Propheties, during 2018 there will be several natural disasters that will shake the world. One passage, in particular, has people quite concerned. This passage reads as follows; Kings steal forests, the sky will open, the fields will be burned by heat. This most assume means that a hold in the ozone layer is going to result in intense solar radiation lashing here on Earth.

Nostradamus has also warned of a 27-year long war that will occur. Could this be WW3? Sure we thought it was coming last year, but this year could be the year. Many believe this is in reference to the tension growing between the US and North Korea. He also predicted as follows: Twice put up and twice cast down. The East will also weaken the West. Its adversary after several battled chased by sea will fail at time of need. What do you think that could mean?

Most of what it seems Nostradamus believes is in store for this year does not look good. While he passed years before our time it seems we still have so much we can learn from him. He accurately foretold the rise of Hitler back in 1933, the massacre that 9/11 was, and so many other things. Many believe the false trumpet Nostradamus referred too on several occasions is, in fact, President Donald Trump himself.

Below you will see some of Nostradamus predictions as explained by Nostradamus2018.com:

UNUSUAL EARTHQUAKES AND FLOODS

Strong earthquakes will shake many areas of our fragile planet. China is one of the countries that will suffer the fury of the earthquakes and since 2018 will cause thousands of deaths.

During the winter of 2018, the belt of fire of the Pacific will record an unusual activity. It will cause several earthquakes and the eruption of three volcanoes.

The floods all around the world will beat all the records. We will see the global media talking about storms and climatic disasters.

There will be typhoons in China, Japan, and even Australia. Russia will be affected by extreme weather and there will be many floods.

Do You See Them Often? Different Colored Spirit Orbs and Their True Meaning "IndyWatch Feed National"

Have you ever noticed those orbs lingering on old photos? What do you think they are?

Depending on who you ask you will get tons of different answers. While lots of people will say they are just dust particles or mere drops of moisture on the lens, I believe they are something more. They are spheres of energy.

While most orbs will be white in color, they can be found in a variety of colors. These orbs are spirits from those passes and our guardians from above. These spirits are generally harmless and are only making themselves known in minuscule ways. Capturing orbs in your photos should not be something that brings about fear, it should make you feel better knowing those guiding you on your path are always by your side. Below you will find a list of meanings that go along with each different color orb you may see.

Clear or Transparent Orbs

These are the most common and simply mean that a spirit is trying to make itself known. When this happens you may even become overwhelmed with a specific emotion. Do not be alarmed, the spirit is just making sure you know it is there.

Purple Orbs

These orbs hold information. For those who do not know purple is a very spiritual color. When you see orbs of this color orb you need to really question things within.

Green Orbs

Green orbs represent healing and are generally associated with love and kindness. If you see this color orb you are on the right track. The spirit world is letting you know there are good things to come.

Yellow Orbs

These orbs should signify that you need to be cautious in life. Your angels are warning you of something to come. Be very aware.

White or Silver Orbs

These orbs are very positive in energy. They are offering you protection from negative things in your life. If you notice these kinds of orbs you might want to stop and thank your spirit guides for what they are working towards doing for you.

Black Orbs

Black orbs are a sign of danger. When you see these in photos you need to be cautious. The danger is much more imminent in this color.

Red Orbs

Red or orangeish red orbs represent safety. If you see these colored orbs you are where you need to be. From these you can draw great strength.

Have you ever seen a spirit orb before and if so what color was the one you saw? I see them quite frequently and mine are usually clear or white.

Here's why there may be no more free passes for the Clinton Foundation "IndyWatch Feed National"

A new Department of Justice probe of the email and charity fraud scandals won't end well for Bill or Hillary Until recently, the Clinton Foundation has been monitored by the IRS, the Department of Justice, and the FBI, and multiple state government authorities that are seeded with persons loyal to either the Clintons or the Obamas. Every time, the Clinton Foundation got a free pass. But now it appears key authorities may finally be turning strict attention toward answering tough questions about public filings of Clinton "charities" inside and outside the United States. When these powerful organizations engage motivated minds, they will wish to concentrate on a few areas that have long gone begging for attention. The first time the Clinton Foundation was investigated, between 2001 and 2005, then-FBI Director Robert Mueller, then-Deputy Attorney General James Comey, and others could not seem to find obvious and escalating frauds as a supposed presidential library complex in Little Rock, Arkansas, also "fought HIV/AIDS internationally" from unregistered offices in New York and Massachusetts without ever obtaining required audits of worldwide activities.

Booms, Busts and Cryptocurrencies "IndyWatch Feed Nsw"

Bitcoin briefly topped out above US$20,000 in December. Then it hit a rough patch. As I type, bitcoin is trading in the $14,500 range. Many people wonder if this is the beginning of the end for bitcoin.

Heres my answer to that: no, its not. Not by a long shot.

Pullbacks like these are normal, healthy, and even necessary. Nothing goes up in a straight line forever. And I still hold firm to my prediction that bitcoin will top $1 million by the end of 2020.

Famed venture capitalist Peter Thiel just announced hes buying up to $20 million in bitcoin. Thiel is the co-founder of PayPal and an early investor in businesses like Facebook, Airbnb, SpaceX and Lyft.

Thiels no fool.

Look, Im no Johnny-come-lately to bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in general. When I introduced my book Choose Yourself in 2013, I initially sold it exclusively for bitcoin.

That was almost five years ago, long before most people had even heard of bitcoin.

Heres what you need to know today:

The boom in cryptocurrencies is following the same script that has played out over, over and over again.

You see, every boom follows a sequence of three stages. Every single boom throughout history has followed this script.

The stock market boom in the roaring 20s the tech boom in the 1990s the housing boom in the 2000s.

And now the booming cryptocurrency market is following this exact same 3-step script.

First, only early enthusiasts are courageous enough to invest in the new trend. Thats stage 1.

Then, institutional investors (the so-called smart money) jump in. Thats stage 2.

Finally, the public joins the party, triggering a massive explosion in price. Thats stage
3.

If you know how to use this roadmap, you could make an absolute fortune. And to help you understand how this 1-2-3 sequence works, let me show you what happened during the 1990s boom in tech stocks.

What is the internet, anyway?

In the mid-1990s, most people didnt even know what the internet was. In 1994, the morning show NBCs Today had a segment where one of the anchors asked, What is the internet, anyway?

While most people were dismissing the technology as a fad, early adopters like myself were heavily investing in it. In 1995, I correctly predicted every company would need a website. So I started my first internet company to help big corporations get online.

Thats how I ended up building the first websites for American Express, HBO, Sony and Disney, among others.

That was stage 1...

Being as Weird as Possible Not the Same as Being Creative, Study Finds "IndyWatch Feed Nsw"

HipsterShit

Creating random, collage-style film clips using every technique learned at art school does not make you a creative genius, a new study has found.

The CSIRO study, conducted by a brave scientist who agreed to endure a marathon A Clockwork Orange-style viewing of Rage, found that being strange for the sake of being strange and a misunderstanding of what it means to be ironic were endemic issues.

It was a horror show of senseless imagery, grotesque pastiches and blatant rip-offs, all presented with a faux-ironic wink, he said. I failed to identify a single memorable tune, charismatic frontman or epic guitar riff.

The study comes as a timely reminder that wearing a 1980s-style pastel suit paired with a tea cosy as a hat is more likely to be a desperate cry for attention than a sign of individuality.

Market Talk- January 5, 2018 "IndyWatch Feed National"

It has been a pretty impressive start to the New Year as we close firmer on all core markets and across all core regions. Asia followed US sentiment and added another 1% for the Nikkei, 0.75% for Australia and +0.25% for both Shanghai and Hang Seng. The KOPSI added 1.3% after news that North and South Korea have planned talks for next Tuesday. Exporters helped the Nikkeis advance as Yen breached the 113 and heads towards the weekly number of 114. Chinas performance continued following strong PMI data and a general sense money is starting to work. The result was a close at a 10 year high for the HSI.

The records continued to roll in Europe when the UKs FTSE and Swissy both closed at more contract highs. The DAX, CAC and IBEX all closed with over 1% gains even after the Eurozone inflation number edged lower. In December the rate was 1.5% but a 1.4% release this morning was disappointing but did not spoil the equity markets rally. However, we probably need to keep an eye on peripheral bonds if the market start to question the Eurozones QE program! The NFPs released in the states failed to halt the renewed enthusiasm for equity markets and we closed on a strong note for next week.

US started where it left off yesterday and with the psychological 25k barrier clearly jumped, markets were strong with volumes increasing. The data did nothing to stop the enthusiasm with the rate at 4.1% and even ISM a tad disappointing but nowhere near enough to stop this juggernaut. It has been the best start for the stock markets in over 10 years and is questionably the US that is dragging the others along. Given current conditions and that everyone seems to becoming around to the bullish AE view it should be no surprise we see the VIX hit again. Not seen a close with an 8 handle yet, but that is surely only a matter of time. Still wonder why so many investors withdrew from stocks to deploy into the bond market in Q4; wonder whose call that was!

2s closed 1.96% (+1bp), 10s 2.47% (+2bp), 30s 2.81% (+3bp), Bunds 0.43% (u/c), France 0.79% (+1bp), Italy 1.99% (-1bp), Greece 3.69% (-10bp), Turkey 11.44% (-2bp), Portugal 1.90% (+1bp), Spain 1.50% (-2bp) and Gilts 1.24% (+1bp).

More on 'Sir Starmer'... "IndyWatch Feed National"

The Shard (and Sir Keir Starmer)

Following on from the previous post, here are transcripts of how the BBC's and ITV's news bulletins respectively covered Sir Keir Starmer's role/non-role in the Warboys controversy this evening.

First, here's BBC One's News at Six:
Mark Easton (BBC): The Director of Public Prosecutions at the time, Keir Starmer, now a Labour shadow minister, today urged victims to take the allegations to the police:
Keir Starmer: I think these decisions were nine years ago. It's very important that you go to the Crown Prosecution Service and get an accurate readout of the decisions that were made, particularly if further allegations are likely to be made now. Thank you very much indeed.
Now, here's ITV's Evening News tonight:
Ria Chatterjee (ITV): Today ITV News challenged Keir Starmer, who was director of public prosecutions at the time Worboys was sentenced:
Keir Starmer: I think these decisions were nine years ago. It's very important to get an accurate readout of the decisions were made, particularly if other allegations are likely to be made now. Thank you very much indeed.
As you can see, ITV took the same route as Sky, beginning with ITV's 'challenge' to Sir Keir, thus raising the suggestion that the shadow Brexit secretary has questions to answer. Mark Easton, in complete contrast, chose not to rouse any.....

'Sir Starmer' - A case to answer or no case to answer? "IndyWatch Feed National"

BBC News report (screengrab)

Reading this evening's reports about the release of John Worboys, the London black cab rapist, there's an interesting difference between the main online reports from BBC News and Sky News concerning the role (or non-role) of Labour's shadow Brexit secretary Sir Keir Starmer eight or so years ago.

Labour's Keir Starmer, director of public prosecutions in 2009 and the current shadow Brexit secretary, refused to answer questions about the case when approached by Sky News.
Asked whether he thought the right decision was made by prosecutors not to pursue further allegations against Worboys, Sir Keir said: "These decisions were nine years ago.
"It's very important you go to the Crown Prosecution Service and get an accurate read out of the decisions that were made, particularly if further allegations have been made now."
The CPS said Sir Keir Starmer did not have "any involvement" in Worboys' case.
Sir Starmer [sic] had faced questions over the release as he was director of public prosecutions at the time of Worboys' trial.
Speaking outside his home on Friday, Sir Keir Starmer said that if anybody felt allegations they had made had not been sufficiently investigated they should "go to the police".

Will 2018 be the year we directly 'see' our first black hole? "IndyWatch Feed National"

The Event Horizon Telescope has come online and taken its data. Now, we wait for the results. Black holes are some of the most incredible objects in the Universe. There are places where so much mass has gathered in such a tiny volume that the individual matter particles cannot remain as they normally are, and instead collapse down to a singularity. Surrounding this singularity is a sphere-like region known as the event horizon, from inside which nothing can escape, even if it moves at the Universe's maximum speed: the speed of light. While we know three separate ways to form black holes, and have discovered evidence for thousands of them, we've never imaged one directly. Despite all that we've discovered, we've never seen a black hole's event horizon, or even confirmed that they truly had one. Next year, that's all about to change, as the first results from the Event Horizon Telescope will be revealed, answering one of the longest-standing questions in astrophysics.

An easy crafty finish "IndyWatch Feed Nsw"

It may not be much but I did start and finish making something on Wednesday night. I repurposed some Christmas placemats (just two pieces of fabric stitched together) into drawstring bags to hold some sweets for my nephews. It took next to no time and required not much effort at all but it did feel good to use my sewing machine and to actually make something. I hope there will be plenty more finishes ahead.

I have been enjoying the start to this year. A visit with my sister and the two nephews mentioned. They pretty much emptied the bags of their contents in record time. Ready to be refilled for next Christmas . They also exhausted me with their abundance of energy ( could have been the sugar).

Time in my garden has been mostly about watering. It is hot and expected to be even hotter over the weekend. But the garden is growing well and although in the hottest parts of the day, things look sad and wilted, they perk up with a drink and when the sun goes behind the hills in the evening.

I went to town yesterday and forgot to buy batteries for my camera so unless I can scrounge around for some here I might have to use some older pictures for the time being. Of course they went flat just when I was in the middle of taking some pictures.

Bye for now,
Tracy xo

Ode to Sydney Art, Literature, and Kenneth Slessors Five Bells "IndyWatch Feed Nsw"

Elaine Campaner Breakfast in Sydney, 2009, digital print on 100% cotton paper, 553 x 830 mm.

ArtiFacts Eastside.

Join me, Jane Raffan, Monday 8 January, for a program about art, poetry and literature specifically focused on Sydney.

Hear interviews with Damien Minton about an exhibition at his former eponymous gallery called Five Bells a Visual Ode to Sydney.

Taking cues from Kenneth Slessors poem voted Australias best poem by ABC listeners in 1988 and Delia Falconers recent book on Sydney, the group exhibition featured works by forty artists across a range of media and styles, offering the chance to reflect on a Sydney many of us may not recognise.

Kenneth Slessors famous poem can be found here: http://treasure-explorer.nla.gov.au/closerlook/slessors-five-bells

And the playlist? A mix of contemporary Australian songs about Sydney (mostly contemporary!), including Paul Kellys musical take on Slessors Five Bells.

And if you are interested in musical inspirations from this famous poem, heres a short list to investigate:

Alan Brownes Australian Jazz Band album Five Bells and Other Inspirations Review

Trumpeter Mirolsav Bukovskys composition The Five Bells Suite for his ensemble, the Ten Part Invention

Composer Peter Sculthorpe Between Five Bells, later renamed (sadly) as Harbour Dreaming

There is More a Christian book by Brian Houston of Hillsong that will take you to the Hillsong Prosperity Gospel Hell "IndyWatch Feed National"

On this, my personal blog-site donaldelley@wordpress, youll find out why Hillsong is bad for you and bad for the world.
I am particularly concerned for America, where so many Christian charlatans, like Brian Houston, and tens of thousands before him, have gotten away for so long with raping and conning churches and unsuspecting Christians by stealth and deception of their hard-earned cash. Brian Houston is one of these snake-oil salesman types not to be trusted. Dont believe the gloss. Dont believe the spin. Everything Brian does is all about Brian, his enabling and fully corrupt wife Bobbie and his corrupt children Joel, Ben, Laura and the corrupt Hillsong pastors in Australia and all over the world who are in on Brians scams and deceptions to enrich themselves.
Hillsong is a human pyramid scheme, trading in the souls of men, women and children enriching those at the top and not to be trusted as far as you can kick it.

Meet Indonesias new honeyeater species from Rote Island "IndyWatch Feed National"

Scientists have described a new species of bird found only on the island of Rote in eastern Indonesia  but already the population of the honey-eating fowl is threatened by habitat loss as a result of rapid deforestation. The discovery of Myzomela irianawidodoae named after Indonesias first lady, Iriana Joko Widodo involved a series of separate field studies between 1990 and 2015 by different groups of researchers, according to a paper published Dec. 31, 2017, in the scientific journal Treubia. The first observation of a Myzomela species on Rote in East Nusa Tenggara province one of the many islands that comprise the Lesser Sunda Islands was carried out by the Australian ornithologist Ron Johnstone in 1990. Scientists have discovered a new bird species that lives only on Rote Island in eastern Indonesia. Photo courtesy of Philippe Verbelen. The survey, however, was too brief for visual or audio recordings to be taken, and subsequent scientific publications referred to the bird species on Rote as being similar to one on Sumba, an island in the same chain about 230 kilometers (143 miles) to the west. Nearly 20 years later, two Belgian ornithologists visited Rote for a different project in which they photographed extensively and made a long series of sound recordings of the birds they encountered there. Considering the fact that Sumba and Rote have a distinct biogeographical history they were never connected to each other it would appear unlikely that the Rote bird would be the same

Jon Rappoport: Top Questions and Doubts about UFO Whistleblower, Luis Elizondo "IndyWatch Feed National"

Top questions and doubts about UFO whistleblower, Luis Elizondo

By Jon Rappoport

"The day of final UFO revelation is at hand! Glory! The government heroes in the shadows have stepped forward with the good news! All hail! Let us praise these insiders and bow down! Our efforts have not been in vain!"

No.

No kid gloves, no fawning gratitude toward sources.

For far too long, government insiders who offer UFO "revelations" have been given a free pass.

They should be treated like any other sources for breaking stories. "Your information is fascinating, but I have lots of questions about you and your background."

There is a history of these insiders spreading disinformation or lies mixed with truth. This is how intelligence and propaganda operatives work. For instance, they could present tidbits about actual UFO sightings along with false claims about recovering "alien bodies." Those latter claims would be part of their covert agenda.

Suppose secret government/corporate programs have been using the stolen work of Tesla and other outlier researchers to achieve advanced propulsion technology? They cover up that fact by spinning tales about alien ET tech. I'm not asserting that's what happened, but it would illustrate why they would float lies...

Journalism---by which I mean independent journalism---should be miles past the point of asking softball questions and navely accepting "breakthrough revelations" from government sources.

In the wake of recent NY Times UFO disclosures from Luis Elizondo, a former intelligence operative who headed up a secret Pentagon program to study UFOs, many questions arise. Not one reporter who has gained access to Elizondo has publicly queried him at length about his suspect background in the intelligence community.

It would be more than interesting to get serious answers from Mr. Elizondo. They would provide a new jumping off point for further investigation.

The Anti-Empire Report #154 "IndyWatch Feed National"

Happy New Year

May 10: Texas executes a 16-year-old girl for having an abortion.

May 12: The Republican Party calls for giving fetuses the vote.

June 3: US demands that Iran destroy all planes and bombs in their country, all pistols and rifles, all knives over 2 inches, and all baseball bats.

Dont Choose Between Dunkirk And The Darkest Hour. Theyre Beautifully Complementary "IndyWatch Feed National"

Recently, I watched Dunkirk and Darkest Hour, or as I now call it, Dunkirk: The Indoor Story, starring Gary Oldman. The two feature films, each with their own Oscar buzz, cover the same cataclysmic rout and retreat from France as Hitler advanced across Western Europe almost without vulnerability in 1940.

Because they are set in the same historic event, the two films inevitably invite comparison, as in SlashFilms Dunkirk vs. Darkest Hour: How Christopher Nolan succeeds where Joe Wright Fails. The verdict is shared by many film critics, despite an engaging performance by Oldman as Churchill:

Part of the problem has little to do with Darkest Hour, and everything to do with Dunkirk. In a year with Christopher Nolans stripped-down exercise in tension, a film that sidesteps so many of the trappings of the period drama and the wartime epic, another movie covering the same subject matter even in a different light is bound to fall short. Where Dunkirk felt like it was breaking ground, Darkest Hour feels like its following a well-worn, overly familiar path.

Id also choose Dunkirk as my favorite of the two, but in this day and age of streaming, one doesnt have to choose, and one shouldnt. Even casual movie and history fans would benefit from seeing both films. Theyre both beautiful and beautifully complementary.

What struck me more than anything about them is how theyre diametrically different tellings of the same time period, almost as if they were designed to be as different from one another as possible. Dunkirk is about the men on the ground; Darkest Hour, the men at the top. Dunkirk is non-linear and in Darkest Hour, Wright is so linear, he marks time with a full-screen antique desk calendar rolling heavily through the days. Dunkirk is all big vistas, but ultimately a very confined picture of the war. Darkest Hour is all claustrophobic settings paired with a much bigger window on the conflict.

The result is each films perceived deficiencies are largely answered by the other film. Those with complaints about Dunkirk call it, as one film history professor said to me on Twitter, loud and empty. We dont know much about the characters or even the desperation of their situation outside of a title card with some minimal historic context. Unless you know a bit from history class about how important and impossible it was to get those men off that beach, I think its fair to say you might miss some of that in Dunkirk. Others found the tryptic storytelling Nolan splits the evacuation into action by land, sea, and air needlessly complicated and confusing.

I found Dunkirk visceral and the....

Federal Judge Obliterates Fusion GPS Attempt To Hide Info From Investigators "IndyWatch Feed National"

On Tuesday, Fusion GPS founders Glenn Simpson and Peter Fritsch wrote an op-ed for The New York Times. In it, they claimed they and their opposition research firm were nothing but an open book and were seeking greater transparency from three congressional committees who have been digging into the probe of Russian election meddling.

All three committees have sought information from Fusion GPS and its principals, who were hired by Hillary Clinton and the Democratic National Committee to do opposition research. That funding paid for the salacious and still-unsubstantiated dossier alleging treasonous collusion between Russia and the Trump campaign. In Fusion GPS vague telling, theyve been nothing but forthright with the committees, which came as news to those committees.

A spokesman for Sen. Chuck Grassley of the Senate Judiciary Committee reminded Fusion GPS that the firm and its principals routinely fought the committee. Spokesman Taylor Foy said, Senator Grassley provided Fusion GPS an opportunity for transparency six months ago when he invited the firm to publicly testify at an open committee hearing. Mr. Simpson declined. When faced with a subpoena from the Chairman and Ranking Member, Mr. Simpson refused to provide public testimony, using his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination to negotiate for a closed-door interview. Despite his public statements, Mr. Simpson and his attorney demanded during the interview that the transcript be kept confidential. Mr. Simpson has refused to answer dozens of questions voluntarily, and has failed to provide the Committee with documents and responses to follow-up questions after the interview.

On the other side of the Hill, its also been far from the picture of compliance and transparency that Fusion GPS claimed in its op-ed. The House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence has spent much of the previous year fighting Fusion for access to basic records tied to the investigation.

On Thursday, a U.S. District Judge denied Fusion GPSs effort to keep the House committee from bank records it sought. Judge Richard Leon, who took over the case after the previous judge Tanya Chutkan recused herself midway over unspecified conflicts, smacked down all four grounds by which Fusion GPS tried to block the congressional subpoena. That subpoena included requests for records of payments from Fusion GPS to journalists who have covered the Russian dossier story.

Fusion said the request for records lacked a valid legislative purpose, were overbroad and...
