A retraction long overdue "IndyWatch Feed National"

RETRACTED. Another article on that bogus Rapid Onset Gender Dysphoria nonsense has been pulled from the literature.

The usual suspects are all outraged at this rebuke. The odious Colin Wright wrote an article damning the journal he claims the retraction was over a minor, inconsistently applied technicality.

The technicality? Informed consent. Very minor. Totally unimportant. I dont know why we even bother.

For those unfamiliar with this slop, the assessment of the psychological state of young trans people was obtained by soliciting self-reports from their parents, parents recruited from web sites where people obsessed with trans issues gather. All their data was gathered from an anti-trans website! Its as if someone looked up the parents of scientists by finding their posted comments on Answers in Genesis, and then came to the conclusion that all evilutionists were formed by resentment of their pastors and association with god-hating school clubs, and determined that scientists were all pathological basket-cases.

I dont know how it got published in the first place. The authors are openly biased, they pulled all their data from an openly biased website, and they even admit in the paper that there is a chance their results were biased, and somehow, it got accepted anyway. Surprise, if you poll posters to a site called ParentsOfROGDKids, youll get testimonials to the existence of ROGD.

Another surprise: they even say in the paper that The initial purpose of the survey was not for scientific publication, but information gathering for a community of parents with shared concerns. Then, what the hell, they published it anyway.

Oh, and if you want to know where one of the authors, J. Michael Bailey (hey, I also mentioned him yesterday) is coming from, this might help:

Bauxite: Jamaicas Lucrative Red Dirt "IndyWatch Feed National"

Jamaica is a global producer of bauxite, a critical material used to produce aluminum. The Caribbean island, most well-known globally for its vibrant tourism industry, has exploited this red dirt for decades. While the industry remains profitable, there has been significant push-back recently, including a recent landmark Supreme Court ruling against a new mining project.

The importance of Red Dirt

In 2022, Jamaicas bauxite production totaled 7,048kt, up 22% from 2021, and the Caribbean island accounts for 2% of global bauxite production. The major global producers are Australia, China, Guinea, Brazil, and India; Jamaica hovers around the 10th place according to Statista, though other outlets put Jamaica in the seventh spot.

The top mining projects on the island are the St. Ann Bauxite Mine (owned by the government of Jamaica and New Day Aluminium), Windalco Mine (owned by United Company Rusal), and Alpart Project (owned by Jiuquan Iron and Steel: JISCO). In late 2021, United Company RUSAL (UC RUSAL) began making payments towards the US$35 million Bauxite Production Levy owed for the April 2018 to September 2021 period. In early June 2023, Mining Minister Floyd Green met with JISCO Alpart to discuss the companys plans for the reopening and resumption of plant operations, which has been stalled since 2019.

SPA: Australias population growth rate of nearly half a million too high "IndyWatch Feed National"

Sustainable Population Australia (SPA) considers Australias population growth rate in 2022 too high and called on the federal government to put a brake on immigration.  The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) released the latest population figures today showing Australias population grew by nearly half a million (496,800 or 1.9%) in the year ending 31 December 2022. The two components of growth were net overseas migration (immigration minus emigration = NOM) at 387,000 and natural increase at 109,800.

SPA national president Ms Jenny Goldie says nearly half a million added to a population of 25.8 million from the year before was simply unsustainable.

As all recent and reliable surveys confirm, the Australian people are strongly opposed to whats going on, says Ms Goldie. Prime Minister Albanese knows this.

At 387,000, NOM is simply too high and must be cut, though Treasury is clearly planning to maintain these extremely high levels. Its rationale is to increase economic growth yet it takes no account of environmental and social factors.

And although immigration increases economic growth at the national level, at the per capita level, growth does not necessarily occur.

Our environment continues to decline with important habitats threatened by urban expansion, not least the last remaining Chlamydia-free koala habitat in Sydney.

And housing is simply not keeping up with the increased demand. Nor can other  infrastructure keep up with such unrelenting immigration-fed population pressures.

Western Australia experienced the highest growth of 2.3% in the country and, as a consequence, Perth is predicted to record the biggest shortfall of 25,200 dwellings by 2027.

Ms Goldie notes that, historically, new migrants have understandably gravitated to the major cities because that is where they are more likely to find people of their own nationality.

Our cities, however, are under immense strain with inadequate public transport and massive road congestion, particularly in Sydney and Melbourne, each with populations of over five million, she says.

Strategies to get people to move to the country have had limited success. The only solution is to slow population growth significantly by cutting immigration, given natural increase is declining naturally at last.

I ask MPs to do the simple sums and answer this: Given the rate of population increase and the much lower rate of building housing, hospital and other infrastructure requirements, when if ever will al...

5 Hidden Dangers Around the Home "IndyWatch Feed National"

Every family deserves their home to be a safe haven. However, there are often hidden hazards hiding in plain sight. While some household hazards are obvious and next to impossible to miss, the real danger lurks in those less obvious hazards that so many of us overlook.

Today, well discuss 5 of the most common hidden dangers around the home, and what you can do to eliminate them. Lets begin.

Old Lead Paint

If your home was built before 1970, theres a very good chance that lead paint was used on your walls. Even if your home has been repainted, it could still be lurking a few coats deep. The recommended amount of lead in domestic paint has dropped from 50% in 1965 to 0.1% in 1997 due to toxicity, and is especially harmful to children, pregnant women and unborn babies.

While well-maintained lead paint thats in good condition doesnt pose any hazards, its if it begins to flake or chalk that the trouble begins. It can also be very hazardous when its on surfaces that are exposed to high amounts of friction, such as windows, doors or railings. People renovating their homes are in the most danger when it comes to lead exposure, so if you suspect your home has any traces of lead paint do not attempt to amend the issue yourself. Instead, hire professional painters who will know how to safely remove lead paint and replace it with a lead-free alternative.

Radon

Radon is a naturally occurring gas, and can often find its way into your home through cracks in your foundations, gaps surrounding your pipes or wall joints. While its found in all homes at some level, if the levels are too high then it can release radioactive particles and cause damage to the lung tissue.

Radon is tasteless, odourless and colourless, meaning that the only way to assess its levels is through a radon test kit. If you find that the levels in your home are too high for comfort, the best way to fix this is often through improving ventilation and sealing cracks found in your foundation.

Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs)

If youre buying new furniture, painting your walls or installing new carpet, chances are that these upgrades are bringing volatile organic compounds (VOCs) into your home along with them. These VOCs, such as methylene, benzene, toluene and xylene, can release gas into the air that can cause headaches, cold-like symptoms and nausea in the short-term and cancer, liver and kidney damage and central nervous system damage in the long-term.

The best way to avoid harmful exposure to VOCs is to buy either VOC-free or low-VOC products, or ventilating any rooms where upgrades have been made for at least a w...

The Vatican Bank "IndyWatch Feed National"

AI generated image

J.G. Olsen / Financial Expositor

Which came first, the Vatican or the Bank?

According to the current official version, the bank was created by Papal decree in 1942, an interesting enough choice, but even moreso since Jewish Holocaust survivors attempted to sue the bank in 1999, but were defeated by sovereign immunity.

The name was reconfigured to the Institute for Religious Works and running along the lines of any other Foundation it recently funded a statue of Moloch, potentially more than one.

This modern Vatican Bank seems to have been created not only for immediate World War II wealth-shifting circumstances but also to fulfil a need, to solidify all the centuries of swirling speculations into something concrete and of course sanitised, another bait and switch.

What of the past?

Out of the turmoil of the slowly decaying Roman Empire, with its cherished hegemony being eroded by silversmiths everywhere, its mercenaries becoming fickle and disloyal, its leadership losing its edge and sanity in equal measures, Emperor Constantine the Great (2...

Hold onto your seats, folks, because a few hours ago, Daniel Horowitz from Conservative Review unleashed Pfizers Post Marketing Adverse Event Report [SOURCE].

The numbers were staggering, with 1.6 million adverse events jumping off the page. But guess what? The actual report from Pfizer is even more shocking.

It seems like Daniel may have reported the figures for the report interval, covering the period between December 2021 and June 2022. However, when you dig into the cumulative data from December 2020 to June 2022, the adverse event count skyrockets to almost 5 million. Talk about a jaw-dropping revelation!

The Financial Times reviews The Palestine Laboratory "IndyWatch Feed National"

The Financial Times has reviewed my book, The Palestine Laboratory, and it feels like 7/10. Written by journalist Mehul Srivastava, I disagree with many of his criticisms but thats the life of an author.

Heres the intro:

Warfare is, among many things, a spectacular advertisement for weapons, especially in the age of television. Having watched Israels Iron Dome missiles streak over Tel Aviv hunting down Hamas rockets, the Ukrainian government contacted its Israeli counterpart last October, hoping to buy the air defence system to fend off the Iranian drones swarming their skies.

If theyd read Antony Loewensteins The Palestine Laboratory, they would have known not to bother. The tiny countrys weapons exports, which hit just over $11bn in 2021, are a means to an end, he argues. Despots and dictators are welcome to them, so long as they serve a geopolitical necessity.

Bulli Hospitals Urgent Care Centre will now operate Mondays to Saturdays "IndyWatch Feed Nsw"

State MP for Heathcote, Maryanne Stuart and NSW Health Minister Ryan Park (centre) at Bulli Hospital this morning

NORTHERN Illawarra residents will have more options to access timely medical care with the Bulli Urgent Care Centre (UCC) extending its operating hours to six days a week, from this weekend.

Bulli UCC, currently operating Monday to Friday, 8am to 8pm, will from tomorrow (June 17) open on Saturdays from 8am to 4.30pm.

The Bulli UCC provides treatment for minor injuries and illnesses, such as sprains and strains, or minor burns and lacerations.

NSW Health Minister Ryan Park said the extended hours was an important first step towards re-establishing seven-day-a-week coverage at the Bulli Urgent Care Centre (UCC).

More than 42,000 people presented to emergency departments across the Illawarra and Shoalhaven between January and March this year, Mr Park said.

We know a significant portion of those patients could have avoided the ED altogether if they had an alternative model of care, such a...

Biden: Your Children Belong to the Government "IndyWatch Feed National"

President Joe Biden admitted the truth the government is claiming your children as their own.

Speaking on his favorite topic, the LGBTQ community, Biden addressed the nation in a disturbing video posted on Twitter that states:

To the LGBTQI+ Community the Biden-Harris Administration has your back. These are our kids. These are our neighbors. Not somebody elses kids; theyre all our kids. And our children are the kite strings that hold our national ambitions aloft. It matters a great deal how we treat everyone in this country. LGBTQ Americans, especially children, you are loved, you are heard, and this administration has your back.

Hillary Clinton has a famous line that says it takes a village to raise children, and everyone cheered, thinking she meant having a strong community. Now, the Democrats are taking it further than any leader would go other than perhaps Kim Jung-Un. Well, I am not sure that he would even permit childhood castration. The American public schools want to indoctrinate your children from an early age. This is why they are refusing to listen to the parents who are pleading with teachers not to teach their kindergarteners about pronouns and sex. The government under Biden is passing laws permitting children to make life-altering decisions without their parents consent. In fact, they are working to punish parents who do not cave to the woke agenda. The government is taking away parental rights entirely.

They are not your kids, Gov. Ron DeSantis tweeted in reply. You are the government. They are NOT your kids, Elon Musk tweeted in a message that now has over 416K likes. This should concern everyone. Bidens message was specifically targeting troubled youth. Feel misunderstood by your parents after years of education indoctrination? Turn to the government to be your family.

Sorry, but Biden failed to raise his own kids. STAY AWAY FROM OUR KIDS.

Migration mystique and push-pull factors in the US and further afield "IndyWatch Feed National"

Recently the right-wing governor of Texas, who just happens to be named Abbott, announced that the state will install a barrier made of buoys along a section of the Rio Grande to deter migrants from entering the US.  As is so often the case his measures, which also included a commitment to spend $5.1b on other border security measures, was met with howls of indignation by immigration advocates who argued that this deprives migrants of the right to seek asylum from persecution.    Those supporting the measure pointed out that the river crossing was dangerous with many drowning in the attempt and up to 30 bodies being recovered every month.

Conflicting ideas on migration but little debate on why we have a worldwide refugee crisis

Much the same conflict of ideas is occurring all around the world including Australia but far more so in Europe where the number of migrants from Africa and the middle east reached over 6000 in January this year double that of the same period in 2022, not to mention approximately 8.2 million Ukrainians.     There has been much debate on why migration should be restricted with counter-arguments as to why borders should be open to all, but very little examination as to why we have a worldwide refugee crisis.     It is of course a complex issue with many factors which unfortunately still allows some to be selective and put the blame on capitalism, socialism, totalitarianism,  religion, tribalism, racism or whatever they happen to dislike.

However the problem in the US is largely self-inflicted and has its origins in policies and actions that are a little easier to dissect since most of those attempting "illegal" entry are their neighbors from the south.     In no particular order of importance the causes of the refugee crisis in South America could be  distilled down to;

Illegal drug empire

a) The US population has an illegal drug habit that is large enough to fund a huge criminal network that smuggles drugs into the US by the ton.  They have armies that have waged wars against any one who opposed them, stolen land and destroyed or corrupted governments.  One such cartel - Clan del Golfo became not only the producer and smuggler of cocaine but ran extortion rackets illegal mining and arms smuggling ( guns obtained from the US with drug profits )  They carried out attacks on government officials as well as kidnappings, torture and assassinations of opponents, all of which made life extremely difficult for locals.    The head of the organization, Otoniel when arrested admitted t...

Naomi Klein on the indispensable Palestine Laboratory "IndyWatch Feed National"

Writer and author Naomi Klein has written a new column in the Guardian about the US presidential candidate Robert F Kennedy Jr where she methodically debunks his populist appeal.

Im grateful for her mention, when discussing Kennedys blind embrace of Israel, of my new book:

Myth #3: He is anti-war and pro-human rights.

Kennedy is most persuasive when opposing US military intervention abroad, or when he is discussing the humanitarian cost of the war in Ukraine, and calling for a peaceful settlement. But how seriously should we take his pacifism and human rights concerns? One hint rests in the blanket supporthe offers the Israeli government, one of the top recipients of aid from the US military industrial complex he decries, and a nation consistently unwilling to entertain peace with justice, while escalating tensions with Iran. Have a look at Antony Loewensteins latest, The Palestine Laboratory: How Israel Exports the Technology of Occupation Around the World, for an indispensable accounting.

This position alone should cause Kennedys supporters to question his supposedly antiwar, anti-surveillance stance. So should his increasingly reactionary position on border controls. Kennedy talks a good game condemning the US for overthrowing democratically elected governments abroad and destabilizing entire regions.

Is the World Dirtier Than We Thought? "IndyWatch Feed National"

What Is Our Relationship With "Dirt"?

Big surprise (or not)! Dirt is everywhere! We assume that we in the West are living "clean" lives but if you look at the air on a sunny day in New York where I am you will see an extremely dense cloud of dust!

Seeing that, if we then got motivated enough to analyze what is going into our lungs as we go about our day "on the town," wed probably faint. What are those dust particles made of? Bits from garbage dumps? Car tires and wall paint? Other pedestrians hair and skin? Microplastics from masks? Geoengineering sprays?

Whatever the composition, we are breathing it all in and amazingly, we just keep walking like Energizer bunnies. Personally, I consider it a major compliment to how resilient and beautiful our bodies are!

By the way, just in case, let me make it clear: the dramatic description of dust was not an advertisement for smart masks, lol although I imagine that soon enough the WEF crowd will use the fact of tremendous air pollution as a "reason" to try and dress us all up in smart cattlewear. And why wouldnt they? They quite love cattlewear on peasants, so ...

Back to dust. It turns out that dust has some pretty "interesting" stuff in it. According to a 2009 report by NPR, to this day, some dust contains DDT, despite the chemical being banned decades ago. And according to this 2021 Conversation article, some dust is natural, coming from rocks, soils and even space. At the same time, the DustSafe program in Australia, for example, revealed that house dust could contain substances like these:

How Electromagnetic Fields Damage Your Health "IndyWatch Feed National"

Editor's Note: This article is a reprint. It was originally published April 29, 2018.

Electromagnetic fields (EMFs) have been shown to cause biological damage and even cancer, but exactly how does this happen? In this interview, Paul Hroux, Ph.D., a researcher and professor of toxicology and health effects of electromagnetism at the faculty of medicine at McGill University in Montreal, helps answer that question.

Originally trained as a physicist, he eventually ended up studying electrical power transmission lines, the topic of his Ph.D., and in the course of working for a power utility, he started investigating the health effects associated with the fields emitted from power lines.

"I got involved in biology, followed courses in medicine and became, so to speak, a different person from what my supervisors initially would have expected me to be," he says. In time, he became a specialist on the effects of magnetic fields on the human body, and joined the Faculty of Medicine to help protect health and the environment.

Types of EMFs

Broadly speaking, EMFs include electric, magnetic and radio frequency fields. While the literature tends to discriminate between low-frequency fields, high-frequency fields, microwaves, electric fields and magnetic fields, all of these have certain commonalities that allow you to lump them together, at least in terms of their biological action.

"It's true that frequency influences the effects," Hroux says, "but basically I could, using an electric field or a magnetic field, produce the same effect in a cell. Most higher frequency signals have enough low-frequency components to have a lot in common with low-frequency components.

The practical aspect of this is that usually the fields have an effect maybe in one application, but they are mirrored in other applications as well. There's a type of great unifying view that you can have about these fields."

Nonthermal Effects Matter

It's important to realize that the damage EMFs cause has nothing to do with thermal effects. At typical exposures, EMFs do not create heat, which has been the telecommunication industry's main defense and argument for the safety of cellphone radiation. However, hundreds of researchers have in fact noted biological effects both at low and high frequencies.

"Covering the whole spectrum, there is no doubt that there are biological effects," Hroux says, adding "There's no doubt there are substantial health effects that we have been experiencing for a long time, and that have been increasing our health bills.

Giant saltworks proposal threatens WA marine park "IndyWatch Feed National"

Contributed from Victoria

German industrial company K+S has submitted a proposal to build a saltworks in the Exmouth Gulf in Western Australia. Reaction from conservationists opposed to the 2,600 square kilometre project by the worlds largest salt company has been swift. The plan is to produce 4.7 million tonnes of salt per year in the nationally listed wetland, one of the last undisturbed arid-zone wetland ecosystems along the coast.

Salt ponds walls will be built over the nationally listed wetlands, which could disrupt the ecosystems nutrient flows via tidal or flood waters into the gulf and disrupt the marine food chain.

Photo by Andre Rerekura: Urala Creek at the top of the Exmouth Gulf will be part of the development footprint

The proposal has bee submitted to the environment Protection Authority (EPA). Almost 15 years ago, the EPA rejected a similar project, because the evidence suggested the environmental harm could be serious. This time the company has enlisted the support of dome local business interests and managed to get an agreement from some local First Nations people, and the outcome is not certain.

Opponents say the K+S plan will risk the discharge of toxic hypersaline water from the salt ponds, which will kill highly sensitive mangroves and harm marine animals, such as critically endangered sawfish and shovelnose rays living in the nearby creeks and marine waters.

Rejection of the earlier project resulted in a set of recommendations. They led the McGowen government to introduce protective measures for the region, which included the establishment of a new marine park for the eastern and southern parts of the Gulf, and A status for areas of significance. This was a recognition of the need to protect the Exmouth Gulf. The K+S proposal flies in the face of this.

Local conservation group Protect Ningaloo wants to see the project stopped. Its director, Paul Gamblin, said it poses too many risks to the local environment.

Cars Suck: Desert edition (or should I say, desertification) "IndyWatch Feed National"

And people suck, too.  Something I was reminded of today, disaster from 1973:

Last Tree of Tnr

The Tnr wastelands of northeastern Niger were once populated by a forest of trees. By the 20th century, desertification had wiped out all but one solitary acacia.

The Tree of Tnr, as it came to be called, had no companions for 400 kilometers in every direction. Its roots reached nearly 40 meters deep into the sand.

The tree had become a sacred object among the nomadic Tuareg people that would pass by it on their journeys, never using it for firewood, or allowing their camels to graze on it. As more desert explorers came across the shockingly hardy plant, it became quite well known and was even included as a landmark on European military maps of the otherwise desolate expanse during the 1930s. When Michel Lesourd of the Central Service of Saharan Affairs first came upon the tree in 1939, he wrote:

One must see the Tree to believe its existence. What is its secret? How can it still be living in spite of the multitudes of camels which trample at its sides? How at each azalai does not a lost camel eat its leaves and thorns? Why dont the numerous Touareg leading the salt caravans cut its branches to make fires to brew their tea? The only answer is that the tree is taboo and considered as such by the caravaniers. There is a kind of superstition, a tribal order which is always respected. Each year the azalai gather round the Tree before facing the crossing of the Tnr. The Acacia has become a living lighthouse; it is the first or the last landmark for the azalai leaving Agadez for Bilma, or returning.

The Most Isolated Tree in the World Was Killed by a (Probably Drunk) Driver

For around 300 years, the Tree of Tnr was fabled to be the most isolated tree on the planet. The acacia was the only tree for 250 miles in Nigers Sahara desert, and was used as a landmark by travelers and caravans passing through the hostile terrain. The tree sprouted when the desert was a slightly more hospitable place, and for years was the sole testament to a once-greener Sahara.

In the 1930s, the tree was featured on official maps for European military campaigners, and a French ethnologist Henri Lhote called it, an Acacia with a degenerative trunk, sick or ill in aspect. But he noted, as well, that nevertheless, the tree has nice green leaves, and some yellow...

Several reef sharks at greater threat of extinction than thought, study shows "IndyWatch Feed National"

New research has found that five key shark species found in reef habitats are at higher risk of extinction than previously thought, mainly due to overfishing. Published in Science, the study indicates that gray reef sharks (Carcharhinus amblyrhynchos), blacktip reef sharks (Carcharhinus melanopterus), whitetip reef sharks (Triaenodon obesus), nurse sharks (Ginglymostoma cirratum) and Caribbean reef sharks (Carcharhinus perezi) declined by 60-73% across the world. As these sharks have disappeared from reefs, rays have begun to take over, except in places where both sharks and rays are being depleted, according to the study. This research builds upon a 2020 study in Nature that found that sharks were functionally extinct from about 20% of the worlds coral reefs. That [Nature] study basically grouped all of the sharks that occur on coral reefs together in one group and looked at what was going on, Colin Simpfendorfer, lead author of the new study and adjunct professor of marine and aquaculture science at James Cook University in Australia, told Mongabay. What weve done with this study is weve actually broken it down into individual species so we could look at what is happening to communities of sharks and rays. Suspended for Providing Balanced News on Ukraine "IndyWatch Feed National"

By Tony Kevin | Consortium News | June 13, 2023

Canberra On Friday The Guardian Australia website carried a news report, with a follow-up piece on Monday, whose implications for free speech are profoundly disturbing.

They concern a Radio New Zealand, or RNZ, broadcasting employee unnamed, but everyone in the small New Zealand broadcasting world will soon know who it is who has been placed on leave while their professional conduct is investigated.  Obviously, a career hangs in the balance.

The malign ghosts of Orwells 1984 stalk this story.

Russian Garbage

This unnamed person in RNZ committed the cardinal sin of inappropriate editing of incoming Reuters news feeds on the war in Ukraine to insert Russian garbage in the contemptuous words of Paul Thompson, chief executive of RNZ. That is to say, they drew on Russian news sources to insert balancing pro-Russian material to the incoming Western news agency feeds.

The Guardian tells us that in fact accurate information about Ukraine was added to the Reuters copy:

The articles in question made a range of amendments: adding the word coup to describe the Maidan revolution; changing a description of Ukraines former pro-Russian president to read pro-Russian elected government; adding references to a pro-western government that had suppressed ethnic Russians; and on several occasions adding references to Russian concerns about neo-Nazi elements in Ukraine.

And more truth was added to the story, The Guardian says:

In one article, a paragraph was added reading: The Kremlin also said its invasion was sparked by a failure to implement the Minsk agreement peace accords, designed to give Russia speakers autonomy and protection, and the rise of a neo-Nazi element in Ukraine since a coup ousted a Russian-friendly Ukrainian government in 2014.

Another added that Russia launched its invasion claiming that a US-backed coup in 2014 with the help of neo-Nazis had created a threat to its borders and had ignited a civil war that saw Russian-speaking minorities persecuted.

This, it seems, is an offence not...

Boris Johnson Refuses to Go Down With His Ship "IndyWatch Feed National"

The Charge of the Light Brigade was a catastrophic military action of the Crimean War in which a British error of judgment ordered cavalry to gallop directly into Russian artillery.

This fatal mishap of 1854, costing casualties of two-thirds of the brigade, caught the imagination of the Victorians, who couldnt stop obsessing about it. The calamity inspired a popular poem by Alfred, Lord Tennyson, and eventually three films (made in 1912, 1936, and 1968).

Americans tend to celebrate success, such as the raising of the flag over Iwo Jima in World War II, or the storming of the Normandy beaches on D-Day (along with British and Australian support).

More recently, American success has been equated with money, represented by such films as Air, which touted the triumph of Nike in marketing the Air Jordan shoe, netting the company (and namesake Michael Jordan) billions of dollars. This monetary windfall is heralded in an end-credit crawl with solemn pomp, as if the company had vanquished cancer or solved the climate crisis.

But the British continue to have a curious relationship with national failure or personal mishap. They have their heroic moments, such as when Winston Churchill intoned his inspiring speeches during the Blitz, the subject of countless books and films. But youll just as likely find a movie about a king stuttering, going mad, or getting his head cut off.

Other films have celebrated General Gordon, who was beheaded........

Thanks to IRA Tax Credits, Its Now Cheaper to Make Solar and Wind Components in the U.S. "IndyWatch Feed National"

For the first time ever, solar and wind components made in the U.S. are less expensive than imports, a new study by researchers from Dartmouth and Princeton has found.

The study estimated the impacts the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) will have on the U.S. solar and wind industries. It looked at how it will change solar and wind manufacturing, job creation and labor standards for renewable energy workers and demand for materials.

The study reveals how the Inflation Reduction Act transforms the economics of wind and solar power to help delink our climate goals from overseas supply chains that are marred by labor abuses, higher levels of pollution, and shipping bottlenecks, said nonprofit BlueGreen Alliance Vice President of Manufacturing and Industrial Policy Ben Beachy in a press release from the organization. Instead, these new investments offer an opportunity to build our clean energy future on a foundation of good jobs, clean manufacturing, and a more reliable and equitable industrial base.

The report, Effects of Renewable Energy Provisions of the Inflation Reduction Act on Technology Costs, Materials Demand, and Labor, was funded by a grant from BlueGreen Alliance, which helps unite labor unions with environmental organizations.

The report zeroed in on the potential effects of the IRAs 45X Advanced Manufacturing Production Tax Credit, as well as the laws investment and green electricity production tax credits, the press release said.

The study found that developers of solar and wind will save big by using components manufactured in the U.S. while paying fair wages to workers.

Permanent Apartheid in Palestine: Why Israel Wants to Reactivate The E1 Plan "IndyWatch Feed National"

The Israeli government is at it again, actively discussing the construction of thousands of illegal settlement units as part of a massive settlement expansion scheme known as E1.

Though Israeli construction in the East Jerusalem area has supposedly been halted under international pressure, the Israeli government has found ways to keep the plan alive.

It did so through constant expansion of the various settlements in the name of natural expansion, confiscation of Palestinian land and the ruthless yet routine demolition of Palestinian homes.

But why does Washington, Israels main defender and benefactor, oppose, at least verbally, the construction in E1 while turning a blind eye to illegal construction throughout the West Bank?

The answer lies in the fact that E1 will further expand the Jerusalem municipal boundaries, minimize any Palestinian demographic presence in the city (from the current 42 percent to about 20 percent), and prejudice any political solution that includes East Jerusalem.

East Jerusalem is a Palestinian city occupied by Israel during the June 1967 war. It is recognized by the United Nations and international law as part of the Occupied Palestinian Territory. Israel should have neither legal rights nor jurisdiction there.

Washington, which rarely cares about the rights of Palestinians, is concerned that, without East Jerusalem as part of the political equation, any discussion of a two-state solution will become forever obsolete.

In other words, the US is more worried about the political, not territorial, consequences of the Israeli decision. Indeed, the US entire political program in Palestine and Israel is situated within the two-state solution template. Without it, Washingtons role would cease to serve any purpose.

This is precisely why US Secretary of State Antony Blinken criticized Israeli settlements during his speech to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) on June 5.

Never More Relevant: Ted Kaczynski, Technology and Trauma "IndyWatch Feed National"

Henry A. Murray has much to answer for. Between 1959 and 1961, the Harvard psychology academic, as the leader of a team of equally unprincipled academics, was responsible for conducting an CIA-funded experiment most unethical on twenty-two undergraduates. The individuals in question were pseudonymised. One particularly youthful figure, named Lawful, was the mathematically gifted Theodore John Kaczynski.

A central theme of the experiments was examining the effects of stress, characterised by what Murray called vehement, sweeping, and personally abusive attacks. Ideals and beliefs were assailed; egos pulverised. For Murray, this came naturally. He had cut his teeth designing psychological screening tests for the forerunner to the CIA, the Office of Strategic Services. It was perfect preparation for what came to be known as Multiform Assessments of Personality Development Among Gifted College Men.

Kaczynski was the less than grateful recipient of the higher end of the experiment. I had been talked or pressured, he told his attorney Michael Mello in August 1998, into participating in the Murray study against my better judgment. It is indisputable that he, along with other subjects, had been sufficiently deceived to be victims of a breach of experimental ethics known more commonly as the Nuremberg Code.

Drafted in the aftermath of the Nuremberg War Crimes Trial of German concentration camp doctors, the code stressed the importance of informed consent. The voluntary consent of the human subject is absolutely essential, declared the judges responsible for formulating the code. The subject should also be so situated as to be able to exercise free power of choice, without the intervention of any element of force, fraud, deceit, duress

Kaczynski can hardly be said to go on to better things, but they were certainly bigger. In terms of notoriety, his position in the technology obsessed undergrowth of the United States was assured by his murderous and maiming efforts. His favourite method: the package bomb, 16 of which were mailed to his intended victims. Three people died; 23 were injured.

A central tenet of Kaczynskis thought was levelled at those complicit representatives of what he called the Industrial Society and its state manifestation. Far from being critical of power, its methods, and its wielding by bureaucrats and planners, its members were adjutants and prosecutors of a sinister agenda of behavioural control.

As the Israeli colonisation of Palestine plods forward at a breakneck pace and its own facade of democracy trembles, Loewensteins book stands out as a new addition to the pantheon of important works of political reportage about Israels role in the world, and what toll especially for Palestinians that role may take.

Companies Back Away from CEI and ESG Social Scores "IndyWatch Feed National"

The people have spoken with their dollars, and companies are now less likely to go woke. The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) pushes the CEI (Corporate Equality Index), a companys social woke credit score. The Open Society Foundation, operated by the Soros family, funds the HRC. The ESG promotes a companys green social credit score, promoted by BlackRock and the World Economic Forum. Companies were 31% less likely to mention these absurd social scores during earnings calls this quarter, marking the steepest annual drop and the fifth consecutive quarter of declines.

Financial research platform AlphaSense polled companies from April 1 to June 5 to see where they stood. The easiest thing to do is just to stay out of the conversation and emphasize other facets of business that are going to be perceived as less controversial and more core to the traditional metrics of the business, said Jason Jay, senior lecturer of sustainability at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. This is the approach Berkshire Hathaway has taken under the lead of Warren Buffett, who refuses to answer these asinine surveys.

The National Center for Public Policy Research, a conservative thinktank, states that companies are discarding their fiduciary responsibilities to shareholders by taking up social issues. They also claim that these companies are discriminating against those who do not share these far-left beliefs.

In 2014, English author and academic Katherine Rundell published an entertaining article in the London Review of Books entitled Fashionable Gore. It served recently as the primarily source and backdrop for a podcast in the highly addictive podcast The Rest is History. The hosts, historians Tom Holland and Dominic Sandbrook, specialist in ancient and modern history respectively, have a jolly good time  discussing the legacy of English fin de sicle author Henry Rider Haggard, and particularly, his hugely popular adventure yarn King Solomons Mines.

Rundell writtes: King Solomons Mines is a very Victorian fable of endurance but its also a glorious romp, if you dont mind your romps racist, sexist and tin-eared It would be surprising if any white man born in 1856 had written non-racist, non-sexist fiction, whether it was set in Africa or not You make a choice with Haggard: if you suspend not just disbelief but politics, logic and taste, the rewards are very real. The koala in NSW is predicted to become extinct by 2050. In response the Great Koala National Park (GKNP) was proposed and in 2020 the Department of Planning Industry and Environments (DPIE) identified 55,000 hectares of State Forests for addition to existing National Parks as the Great Koala National Park.

At the time the North East Forest Alliance (NEFA) spokesperson Dailan Pugh welcomed the news saying Its a step in the right direction.

During the NSW election the Labor Party committed $80 million to establish the GKNP which would connect 175,000 hectares of state forests with existing national parks, creating a nature reserve of more than 300,000 hectares according to the ABC

However, in the meantime the NSW Forestry Corporation, a government agency, continues to heavily log areas that are proposed for the GKNP. Local communities have, and continue, to actively block their logging attempts of these native forests.

Boambee State Forest on the western edge of Coffs Harbour, that is proposed to be part of the GKNP, is today being blocked from logging by activist Ella, a forest protector, who is 100 feet up a tree in a secured tree-sit in Boambee State Forest.

Whistleblowing amendments an important first-step "IndyWatch Feed National"

Initial amendments to Australias federal public sector whistleblowing law, the Public Interest Disclosure Act, are a welcome step towards much-needed comprehensive reform, Australias leading whistleblowing experts said today.

The Human Rights Law Centre, Griffith University and Transparency International Australia said they were pleased the Government and all parties had listened to their joint submission to the Senate Legal and Constitutional Affairs Committee about significant problems with the initial bill, and made substantial improvements, now accepted by the Senate.

The Public Interest Disclosure Amendment (Review) Bill implements five aspects of reform one in full and four in part of the 21 elements outlined in Protecting Australias Whistleblowers: The Federal Roadmap, published last year by the three organisations.

Alongside the pending establishment of the National Anti-Corruption Commission,  Attorney-General Mark Dreyfus KC has committed to a second, wider phase of PID Act reform later this year. The government has also agreed to consult on the establishment of a whistleblower protection authority, with a discussion paper expected in the coming months.

Kieran Pender, Senior Lawyer at the Human Rights Law Centre, said:

By exposing human rights violations and government wrongdoing, whistleblowers make Australia a better place. But our whistleblower protections framework has fallen behind global standards; too often Australian whistleblowers are punished, not protected.

The Attorney-General is to be commended for resuming the journey towards a better whistleblowing framework, having led the initial enactment of the PID Act over a decade ago. We also applaud the work of the Greens and Coalition Senator Paul Scarr in helping ensure major improvements to this initial bill.

Clancy Moore, CEO of Transparency International Australia said:

These initial technical changes will start to breathe life back into federal whistleblower protections, in tandem with the Albanese Governments historic success in establishing Australias long awaited national anti-corruption commission.

We welcome the Governments commitment to fully overhaul the PID Act in coming months, and stand ready to assist with making protections simpler, more comprehensive and more consistent for anyone who blows the whistle.

Professor A J Brown, from Griffith Universitys Centre for Governance and Public Policy and Transparency International Australia board member said:

Compliance: The Final Straw "IndyWatch Feed National"

Compliance: The Final Straw

By Steven Strong

The world of today is littered with half-truths, secret agendas, omissions and vilification for any who do not comply. The media and government agencies in all their multi-various forms no longer tolerate criticism, and any that complain will immediately be labelled a conspirator at best, and perhaps even a traitor. Wherever we look or listen it is all about blame, fear mongering and uncertainty.

The most recent roll-call of people, places and events on this planet is no less than tragic and most likely, lethal. It is all about making money and war, whether the spokesperson be Trump, Biden, Boris, Putin, Sco-Mo or Albanese, anything else is an incidental afterthought. Over the last decade wars have been waged in the Ukraine, Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Sudan and Yemen along with many other slightly less brutal internal conflicts, and all the way along humming in the background is the incessant talk of a global escalating conflict in Taiwan. At a global macro-level, the planet is echoing to the sounds of explosions and aggression, but believe it or not it gets no better at the personal and individual level. There is a silent turmoil and outrage taking place in every location and within all inhabitants of this planet that is far more dangerous and...

Antidepressants can cause chemical castration "IndyWatch Feed National"

Patients are not being warned of persistent, irreversible sexual dysfunction caused by SSRIs

BY MARYANNE DEMASI, PHD | JUNE 12, 2023

Antidepressants can cause severe, sometimes irreversible, sexual dysfunction that persists even after discontinuing the medication.

Sufferers have described it as chemical castration a type of genital mutilation caused by antidepressants, mainly selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs).

The condition is known as post-SSRI sexual dysfunction (PSSD), a condition largely unrecognised, and the true incidence of which is unknown.

David Healy, psychiatrist and founder of RxISK.org said, I saw my first patient with PSSD in 2000, a 35-year-old lady who told me that three months after stopping treatment, she could rub a hard-bristled brush across her genitals and feel nothing.

Josef Witt-Doerring, psychiatrist and former FDA medical officer said, This condition is so devastating that it will cause serious changes to your life and to those around you.

It happened to Rosie

In 2020, during protracted covid lockdowns in Melbourne, 23-year-old Rosie Tilli felt an increasing sense of anxiety and depression.

Her psychiatrist prescribed a low dose of Lexapro (escitalopram), an SSRI to help Rosie calm down, assuring her that if she experienced side effects, theyd go away once she stopped the medication.

The lies of manufacturers and reviewers on Solid State Drives "IndyWatch Feed National"

What's the BEST drive for gaming?

What drive is for 'content' creators, you know OnlyFans?

What SSD is best for workstation type loads?

Is 7300MB per second too slow for my games?

There are many misconceptions and 'lies' used to promote a manufacturer's wares, in order to be the sales kings of the industry.

It's a bit like reading an automotive manufacturer's fuel economy figures which can even be 30% less than in the real world.

Unfortunately many so called tech reviewers also have little to no idea, where all they're doing is supporting the advertising babble.

"What's the best gaming SSD in 2023?" could be answered in a simple line being: The same one as in 2020?

There are other more crucial specifications that are deliberately not focused on such as longevity, endurance, or even how long can the maximum speed be kept for, or a more real world use case scenario that 99% of the computing population does, where the speed of random read and writes are most important.

One of the better explanations out there is presented in this video:

Donald Trump case is about which faction of Wall Street will dominate "IndyWatch Feed National"

Contributed by Joe Montero

Donald Trump has finally been arrested and charged with criminal offenses and faces 37 counts of having committed federal crimes. This is over the theft of sensitive classified documents. Not surprisingly, Trump protests his innocence.

We most certainly enter a plea of not guilty, his lawyer said in the Miami court.

The defence rests on a counter accusation of victimisation. Trump alleges that he is the victim of a conspiracy hatched by the deep state, because he is popular, really won the last presidential election, and will win the one in 2024 easily. The implication of these allegations is that the deep state wants to stop him.

Its not as crazy as some would have it. In a nation where the faith in the political system and those who represent it has plummeted, Trumps words strike a chord. This is something that many of his critics with a voice to be heard conveniently ignore or fail to understand.

Photo from AP: Donald Trump in Miami

Trumps strategy is clever, and it might just propel him into the White house once again.

Another mistake made by many of his critics is the illusion that American law is the defender of justice and applies. Tell this to poor and non-white Americans. The yare the ones who feel the rough end of a justice system weighted against them.

Civil rights lawyer Alec Karakatsanis observed in an astringent Yale Law Journal piece a few years ago, that the USs brutal punishment bureaucracy unfairly disadvantages poor people and people of colour throwing them in prison for minor offenses and making a mockery of the idealistic idea that our criminal justice system is objective.

Donald Trump is in a good position to manipulate this. He has the privileges and the means to turn the law to his advantage, with his army of lawyers, deep pockets to buy justice, judges he appointed, control over the Republican Party, a cult following, and the political power...

After asking the NSW minister for Crown Lands, Steve Kamper MP, whether a new lease agreement between Red Devils Park and Crown Lands will result in long-term campers being evicted, his office hand-balled the question to Crown Lands in the Department of Planning and Environment.

A spokesperson told The Echo, The Crown reserve at Bangalow Road, Byron Bay, is held under lease by the Byron Bay Rugby League Football Club for sporting activities, which authorises the use of playing fields and a clubhouse only. The club has historically advertised for camping onsite and encouraged travellers to stay.

The club has been advised by Crown Lands that short-term camping is not consistent with the lease purpose, and does not have development consent from Council to operate. The club has issued notices for campers to leave its leased area.

The spokesperson said, It is understood several persons remain camping on adjoining Crown Land outside the lease area, which is separately managed by Byron Shire Council.

Crown Lands has been in contact with Byron Shire Council. It is understood that Council is not actively seeking to move on any genuinely homeless people.

Council advised it regularly works with homeless people in the Shire to connect them to services that may be able to assist them.

Council has offered to provide assistance to connect campers with support services if needed.

Crown Lands is not requiring the Council to remove any genuinely homeless people from the adjoining Crown reserve managed by the Council.

Byron Shire has the highest number of rough sleepers of any local government area in the state, and urgently needs state government support for an assertive homelessness outreach program, Mayor Michael Lyon says.

As Council continues its crackdown on the Shires van campers, Cr Lyon successfully moved a motion calling on NSW Housing Minister, Rose Jackson, to fund the outreach program that supports those who were genuinely homeless, rather than those who choose to freeload in our streets.

In the last two years, our rough sleeping count has gone up 50 per cent from 200 to 300 people, Cr Lyon told last weeks Council Planning Meeting.

This hasnt been officially released yet, but were aware of the figures.

The Ballina Shire Council has kept secret details of legal action it may be taking against a developer over alleged unauthorised land clearing at Lennox Head.

A relatively small staff agenda item for last months ordinary council meeting included reference to legal implications associated with vegetation clearing works in an Elevation Estate property in Lennox Head.

But the legal implications, staff said, were the subject of a confidential report.

Councillors moved into confidential session accordingly last month without objection.

They also agreed unanimously to simply note the confidential staff report as per the staff recommendation, with no matters arising publicly raised.

Staff had said in agenda item notes the matter wasnt of a type that is subject to community engagement under Councils Community Consultation Policy or Community Participation Plan.

The same notes also showed council staff had tried to have the owner remedy the unauthorised vegetation clearing but attempts had been unsuccessful to date.

No development applications received for clearing, staff say

The Storification of the life of others "IndyWatch Feed Northcoast"

<p>Remarks inspired by three sessions at the Bellingen Readers & Writers Festival

The sessions were by the following authors that presented their books:

A) The photographer and writer Jon Rhodes, 'Whitefella Way', 2022
B) Anastasia Guise, (collaborative authors) Fire Stories: Reflections from Northern Rivers locals on the 2019/2020 bushfires.
C) Sarah George, Gamu: The Dreamtime Stories, Life & Feelings of Big Bill Neidjie

Storification of the life of others might sum up the common thread
for these three presentations.

Anthropological enthusiasts with a gaze of an outsider curate and frame encounters of lived lives and experiences of others.

The mostly narrative form in text, image or audio is to make the stories 'more accessible'. It is to meet the longing for the unambiguous, a clarity of meaning, a search for orientation.

The literary device of narrative storification of the others' lived lives seems to have a contemporary ring of 'authenticity'. People open up 'first hand' about their lives and 'confess' to their trauma. The presently popular genre of autofiction blends autobiography and fiction.

Ever since the "narrative turn" (Peter Brooks) storification is en vogue and sells. The craft of narrative fiction or storytelling has also been seized by PR, medical communication, council spins and generally narrates corporate 'stories'.<br> <br> In the age of attention deficits, the failure to actively listen seems ubiquitous. Distracted and overloaded, one has to relearn to listen, read and observe again. Forests of books and public mainstream broadcasters (ABC feeds) consist of 'stories' and no longer claim to be 'news'.<br> <br> The genre of the first-person recount is said to easily connect with the interlocutor's emotions. Data visualisation or pictorial representation of information aims to 'bring the message home'.<br> <br> The demand for authenticity in uncertain times is apparently met by the trustworthy first-person narrative. It is alluding to an immediate, direct, true and uncomplicated reciprocal exchange of meaningful experiences.<br> <br> Communities of experience and practice can find a social anchor in a 'we'. For the consumer the stories appear more emotionally engrossing as the narrative appeals to an ingrained and familiar enculturated pattern of a narrative arc/structure.<br> <br> There seems to be a difference if the interlocutor's stories are the literary confessing, retelling or bearing witness of an individual narration or a socially curated autofiction.<br> The 'story' of a representative/member of a First Nation sharing collective knowledge appears to be on another level of transmission. The Indigenous cultural capital which is shared comprises the material and symbolic goods, the knowledge that functions as a social relation within an economy of practices.<b...

Fans Jubilate As CAC Recorgnises Okumagba As President Of Super Eagles Supporters Club "IndyWatch Feed National"

SUPER EAGLES SUPPORTERS CLUB

LAGOS JUNE 14TH (URHOBOTODAY)-It was wild jubilation over the weekend as members of the Super Eagles Supporters Club who stayed true to the clubs constitution and stayed away from the charade of an election purportedly held in Abuja some months back finally regained ownership and rulership of their Club via a Government backed Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) document of incorporation.

The document, a certified true copy of the certificate of incorporation dated and signed by the Registrar-General of the Corporate Affairs Commission on the 9th of June 2023, affirmed the 10 Trustees of the club as being the bona-fide Owners and Directors while re-confirming the removal of the names of the dissidents who tried to hijack the day to day running of the club albeit, illegally.

For emphasis, the Trustees of SUPER EAGLES SUPPORTERS CLUB ABUJA incorporated on the 7th day of June, 2018 have been changed by resolution dated 6th day of June, 2023 as follows:

Joseph Ani, Chigozie Nnadi Chibuzor Anyaora , Obadiah Diji,

Nnaoma Chigbu,Dauda Alli, Dere Buwaghan, Olusola Oladejo, Owolabi Ayo ,Vincent Okumagba.

The certificate of Incorporation clearly stated. The likes of Johnson Dagana, Sam Pirar, Catherine Edum, Ibeakamma Okechukwu, Ijeoma Okechukwu and Olutoye Orishabiyi have now been removed from the list of the Trustees of the SESC, the certificate affirmed.

Vincent Okumagba is the Founder and President of SESC. He was FIFA Fan Leader for the World Cup, Qatar 2022. He left on a medical tourism abroad and some people tried to hijack the club from him. They have been suspended and normalcy has returned, Chief Chibuzor Anyaorah the Deputy Vice President of SESC explained to this reporter over the telephone.

It will be recalled that Vincent Okumagba only a fortnight ago, emerged as the 1st Vice Chairman of the African Football Supporters Association (AFSA) and the Delta born FIFA Fan Leader will be leading out 100 members of the Super Eagles Supporters Club to Australia and New Zealand for the FIFA Womens World Cup this summer to cheer the Super Falcons all the way at the Mundial.

Dumpling Wars "IndyWatch Feed National"

The Ukrainian blonde had the smell of trouble. She had perched herself, along with her mute friend, in a restaurant across from the famed South Melbourne Market. On arriving at the modish, glorious bit of real estate known as Tipsy Village, a Polish establishment famed for accented French cuisine, she shrieked: Why do you have Ruskie dumplings on your menu?

The Polish host, a man of butter mild manner and infinite tolerance, covered in stout glory, took it in his stride. That is what they are called where I come from and that is what we serve, Peter Barnatt stated with serene clarity. (Such wickedness! Such a radical disposition!) The blonde shrieking wonder continued to invest in the dumplings some satanic quality, as if each one had been a shell, soldier, a weapon massed and launched against her pristine homeland which she had, it seemed, abandoned. We would just like coffees, she demanded. His temper finally disturbed, the host insisted that, as the two were not intent on dining, might just as well leave.

In a luxurious huff, they exited. Such behaviour was fascinating for being irresolvable no dining establishment worth its salt and cutlery should ever change that aspect of things. But for them, the issue had been decided, a prejudice firmed up and solid.

Names on the menu are a signature of a restaurants worth. Besides, dishes do not invade countries in tanks nor bomb cities. The episode was also strikingly, amusingly moronic. Food had been made out as somehow guilty, disgusting, revolting all because of a name, an identity. The sin had moved in the dough, the mixture and the potatoes, dumplings with agency. The restaurateur was all the more guilty for hosting them.

Since the invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, the gastro-culture war on serving dishes with a Russian name, be it with hint, flavour, or substance, has been total. Hatred of the Kremlin has become bigotry towards the dish. In Madrid, Sergiy Skorokhvatov, himself Ukrainian and an owner of a restaurant called Rasputin serving both Russian and Ukrainian cuisine, sensed trouble. He ventured into the thorny world of online discussions to clarify the nature of what he was serving, which was considered wise given what has happening to other restaurants serving Russian fare.

This method of insurance was not full proof. I thought that changing things would help us, but then people started posting similar stuff about us Dont go to Russian restaurants and pictures of blown-up buildings in Ukraine.

E.K. Clark Accuses Okowa As Crafty, Ambitious, Spends Delta Money On Atiku "IndyWatch Feed National"

CLARK AND OKOWA

LAGOS JUNE 14TH (URHOBOTODAY)-Elder statesman and Ijaw leader, Chief Edwin Clark, on Wednesday, described the immediate-past governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa as a traitor and a very crafty man.

Clark also alleged that Okowa emerged as Atiku Abubakars running mate for the 2023 presidential election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after spending Delta States money on (Atikus) campaign.

He made the claim while appearing as a guest in an interview on Arise TVs Morning Show.

Clarke revealed that the 17 southern governors had, ahead of the 2023 presidential election, resolved to oppose any party that presented a northern presidential candidate in their primaries but Okowa went behind his colleagues to team up with Atiku.

Let me tell you the reason why the whole of southern Nigeria regards Okowa as a traitor. Let me tell you, he is a betrayer. Okowa volunteered to host a meeting of the 17 governors of the south. He provided accommodation for every one of them, Clark said.

He provided his secretariat, I know the person who was the secretary to the government at the time. They were there, they drafted the communique supervised by him and gave it to Akeredolu to read. He read it, then they all went to Lagos to confirm it, they went to Enugu to confirm it, not knowing that the same Okowa was spending our money for Atiku. I asked him in my letter to answer it.

He added, The delegates of the PDP primary, who did they vote for? Did they vote for Wike or Emmanuel Udom of Akwa Ibom? They all voted for Atiku. So, he deceived his colleagues that we should produce the president from the south only to team up with Atiku to betray us. All the governors know about that. He is a man who is very ambitious, quiet and gives a wrong impression about himself that he is a very good man. Very crafty man.

Construction canary in the coal mine "IndyWatch Feed Nsw"

Rental vacancies: tight but steady

The latest ABS Arrivals & Departures figures showed that many Aussies headed overseas during the school holidays in April 2023, with short-term departures significantly higher than arrivals.

The overseas arrivals figures will likely now be steady until the warmer summer months.

Residential rental vacancies remained steady at 1.2 per cent in May according to SQM Research.

Rental vacancies are rising significantly in Canberra and Hobart, but are generally very tight across the other six capital cities.

Capital city asking rents increased +0.6 per cent over the month to be +19.1 per cent higher over the year.

Nationally, asking rents for units (+22.1 per cent) have outpaced houses (+17.1 per cent).

Asking rents for units in Sydney were up +26 per cent over the past year.

Overall there was some easing in regional rental markets, but the capital cities remain very much a landlords market, reported SQM Research.

Make your Australian Parliament act to free Julian Assange - update "IndyWatch Feed National"

Further update, Wed 15 June: Assange mentioned only once this week in Parliament this week, whilst German MP speaks up (see Appendix 2 below). Although Julian Assange was not mentioned either in the House of Representatives or the Senate, yesterday, on Tuesday 13 June, there is still good reason to hope that, over the remaining 7 days, in which both houses sit (including today), we will hear members of the Bring Julian Assange Home Parliamentary Support Group (Assange Support Group) speak loudly in support of Julian Assange and hold to account Prime Minister Anthony Albanese for his failure, thus far, to uphold his duty of care towards Julian Assange.

At 6pm on Monday 12 June, Kirsten Kennedy, on behalf of Queensland Greens (pictured above), responded to my email. Her response has been posted as a comment . From her reply and from the page linked to in that reply () I can see that Senator Allman-Payne speaks on behalf of all Greens Senators and Members of Parliament.

Nonetheless, I still think it critical that the case for Julian Assange be debated. From past experience, we can see that yet further statements in support of Assange or the presentation of more petitions will have zero impact on this government. Even a further Question Time question will only, at best, embarrass the Government momentarily, but do little to improve Assange's circumstances.

As I have written before, if, as has been the case up until now, Standing Orders don't allow supporters of Julian Assange to move a motion, such as my suggested motion of Monday 12 June (see Appendix 1 below), then move for a Suspension of those Standing Orders. Should the Speaker pronounce that procedural motion defeated, then, this time, call for a division so that the people of Australia will know - as Julian Assange faces extradition to the United States and imprisonment there for the rest of his life in conditions even worse than what he is now enduring at Belmarsh prison - which of their 'represent...

(AP Photo/Fateh Guidoum, file)

ALGIERS, Algeria (AP) Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune on Tuesday is starting a three-day state visit to Russia meant to strengthen relations of friendship and cooperation at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin, authorities said Tuesday.

The Algerian presidency said in a statement that Tebboune will attend an economic forum to be held this week in the city of St. Petersburg.

Putins invitation had been conveyed by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov during his visit to Algiers in May last year with the aim of developing bilateral military, economic and humanitarian ties, and in other areas.

Some Algerian media have criticized the visit amid Russias war in Ukraine.

The timing is not at all appropriate, as this visit by the president could be understood as a bias in favor of Russia in its conflict with Ukraine, whereas officially, it has a position of neutrality, the Maghreb Emergent website wrote on Monday, raising concerns about a potential backlash from Western countries.

Tebboune answered a question on the issue during his last appearance on public television last month.

Russia is a friendly country which helped our revolution and with which we have historic political, diplomatic and economic relations, but we also have good relations with the United States and the countries of the European Union, he said.

Gas-rich Algeria is in a delicate position regarding its long-standing ties to Russia.
