Fuellmich The Australian Aboriginals Fighting For Survival and Their Land "IndyWatch Feed National"

Introduction by DM

Todays post is a video of ICIC with Dr Reiner Fuellmich talking to David Lurnpa Cole, an Aborigine from Australia, well-known blogger Bernie Bebenroth, known as Bernie from Australia and Iris Tassie Tiger Richter about the outrageous events in Australia over the last three years.

The government measures in Australia have been very harsh, and the vaccination pressures high, and the indigenous population, the Aborigines, were put under massive pressure and forced to vaccinate. David Lumpa Cole approached Fuellmich with the cry for help that his people were suffering greatly because of the vaccinations with deaths massively increasing.

The Palestine Laboratory arrives shortly "IndyWatch Feed National"

My new book, The Palestine Laboratory: How Israel Exports The Technology Of Occupation Around The World, is out in May. Its published in the US and UK on 23 May with Verso and in Australia and New Zealand with Scribe on 30 May:

Heres the Verso blurb (the Scribe one is very similar but slightly different):

How Israel makes a killing from the Occupation.

Israels military industrial complex uses the occupied, Palestinian territories as a testing ground for weaponry and surveillance technology that they then export around the world to despots and democracies. For more than 50 years, occupation of the West Bank and Gaza has given the Israeli state invaluable experience in controlling an enemy population, the Palestinians. Its here that they have perfected the architecture of control.

Best-selling journalist Antony Loewenstein, author of Disaster Capitalism, uncovers this largely hidden world in a global investigation with secret documents, revealing interviews and on-the-ground reporting. This book shows in-depth, for the first time, how Palestine has become the perfect laboratory for the Israeli military-techno complex: surveillance, home demolitions, indefinite incarceration and brutality to the hi-tech tools that drive the Start-up Nation. From the Pegasus software that hacked Jeff Bezos and Jamal Khashoggis phones, the weapons sold to the Myanmar army that has murdered thousands of Rohingyas and drones used by the Europea...

Attorney-General must act as tax whistleblower set to face trial "IndyWatch Feed National"

The Human Rights Law Centre today urged the Attorney-General to discontinue the prosecution of tax office whistleblower Richard Boyle and fix whistleblower protection laws, after Boyles whistleblowing defence was dismissed by the South Australian District Court.

Boyle blew the whistle on wrongdoing at the Australian Taxation Office in 2017, at first internally and then to the ABC. He was charged with a number of offences in 2019, despite his whistleblowing being vindicated by several independent inquiries.

Before the District Court, Boyle had argued he was immune from criminal prosecution due to the Public Interest Disclosure Act, which protects federal public servant whistleblowers.

On Monday, Judge Kudelka dismissed the application. The judgment was suppressed on an interim basis, with a further hearing scheduled for Tuesday afternoon.

Amendments to the PID Act are expected to be debated before the Senate on Tuesday.

Kieran Pender, Senior Lawyer at the Human Rights Law Centre, said

This decision will be devastating for Richard Boyle and it is a major blow for Australian democracy. Whistleblowers should be protected, not prosecuted. Whistleblowers should be protected, not prosecuted and the Public Interest Disclosure Act was enacted to ensure just that. The courts decision that Boyles whistleblowing on wrongdoing within the Australian Taxation Office was not covered by the PID Act shows that the law is utterly broken.

When whistleblowers speak up about government wrongdoing, human rights violations and corporate misfeasance, they make Australia a better place. Our laws need to reflect that. This prosecution, and that of war crimes whistleblower David McBride, are unjust and undemocratic.

The whistleblowing laws enacted by Mark Dreyfus when he was Attorney-General in 2013 have now failed both men. There is no public interest in either prosecution and it is high-time that Dreyfus intervened to drop both cases, just as he dropped the Collaery case.

The decision today only underscores the urgent need for law reform to ensure whistleblower protections are real and dont just exist on paper. The Attorney-General should prioritise comprehensive reform to the PID Act and the establishment of a whistleblower protection authority.

What does the election result in New South Wales tell us? "IndyWatch Feed National"

Contributed by Jim Hayes

Forget all the hype, The New South Wales state election of Saturday produced a result like all the recent ones across Australia. Its true that did receive a swing towards it of 3.8 percent due to some state factors. But this doesnt change the underlying shift that is common to the whole of Australia, including this state.

There was a turning away from the major parties. A significant part of 5.9 percent swung towards the independents and Greens. The biggest price was paid by the Coalitions Liberal and National Parties.

Labor will now be the governing party, which means it has hold of the federal and all state governments except Tasmania.

This should provide a wonderful opportunity to leave a big mark on Australian politics. Big changes could be made. But they wont. Labor is committed to doing a minimalist approach. The emphasis is carrying on business as usual.

Look at the election result in its proper perspective. Labor wins at least 9 new seats to make a majority of 6 seats with the support of only 37.2 of the electorate. This was possible because of the optional preferential election system that produces a different result to other parts of Australia using the preferential system, where there is a far greater opportunity for small parties and independents to direct second preferences away from the major parties.

Even more significant is the gerrymander that means that the smaller parties end independents must do much better to get any result than the candidates of the major parties to get anywhere. The exception is the National Party, where the gerrymander wor...

The lies of the real estate industry: Michael Hutchences "home" for sale "IndyWatch Feed National"

One of the biggest industries in Australia, apart from government itself where a constant barrage of lies emanate from, is the real estate industry.

AS we know the government is stakeholder of this real estate industry where the bigger the lies the more profit is generated from those lies which persons in government benefit from.

No one, in their right mind would bite the hand that feeds it now would they, so it is not in the governments modus operandi to attend to this multi-generational false advertising (an illegal action) issue.

So, consumers, customers or whatever other legal jargon the poindexters deep within government annals decide to label the tax slave serfs purchasing a limited lease on the land they have limited dominion over, the government sits idly by profiteering, from the lies spewing out of the mouths of the lowly regarded (by many, up there with with used car salespeople) realtors.

In a recent advertisement, you were led to believe that you are going to purchase Michael Hutchences childhood home.

By any stretch of the imagination of a so called normal person one would be seeing in ones mind that one would be purchasing as a piece of land not only containing grass and trees but most importantly the house you know a kitchen, lounge room, laundry and bedroom where a young Michael would be growing up and running around in, because after all thats what the advertisement states remembering that Optus got financially penalised many time for false advertising.

WELL, guess what?

You ain't gonna get no house which Mikey resided in!

China US Claimed Territory One China Policy "IndyWatch Feed National"

QUESTION:  Chinas claimed territory??? So China can claim the entire Pacific as their territory and that means we cant enter the Pacific???
DF
ANSWER: Whatever China claims is really irrelevant. Up until recently, we did not push the limits and China did not expand its claims. We all agreed to disagree but took no action. In this case, Beijings claim of its territorial waters in the South China Sea near the Paracel Islands does not comply with international law.
Nevertheless, the real question is what has changed? You can support war all you want, but remember, this time it will be different. The Neocons are smart. Wrap whatever they do in the American flag and people will die for their claims as well. Wars are created by the elites, not the common people. We also need to examine who is doing what for whatever you thought you were creating for your future and that of your family will exist no more. Everything is changing.
You must understand the language of diplomacy. It may seem irrelevant but it is very critical. The point is that we seem to be deliberately provoking confrontation which is strange and we are abandoning the statement on the One China Policy which has actually protected Taiwan. Before the Neocons seized the White House, there was...

Empowerment Over Fear: Bitcoin, Home Birth And Responsible Sovereignty "IndyWatch Feed National"

I've gained a lot of sovereignty through Bitcoin, and I'm equally grateful that my partner has done the same by choosing home birth.

This is an opinion editorial by Conor Chepenik, an organizer for the Mass Adoption Bitcoin meetup and the father of a child who was born at home.

When my partner initially mentioned a home birth for our first child, I didnt give it much thought. As a man, I had limited knowledge of what childbirth entailed. For my whole life, it seemed like common knowledge that giving birth in the hospital is just what you do because its safe. Luckily, my partner didnt trust common knowledge, she went and verified for herself.

Did you know that in 2021, cesarean deliveries accounted for 32.1% of live births in the United States? I was taken aback when I learned that. One third of women were not having natural births in one of the wealthiest countries in the world?

I also learned that inducing women early is common practice in a hospital. It is usually done when there is a concern for the mother's or baby's health, but elective labor induction is also often performed for convenience. Labor induction carries various risks, including failed induction, low fetal heart rate, infection, uterine rupture and increased bleeding after delivery.

Furthermore, epidurals containing fentanyl have been known to cause difficulties in babies latching on to their mothers breasts. This is not meant to bash on hospitals. Its to point out that women's bodies have been able to birth babies long before humans created hospitals.

At first, a home birth seemed like a neat idea to me because it would mean that I got to watch my child enter this world from the comfort of my living room. But after learning about these statistics, my mindset quickly shifted to home birthing being not just interesting, but our best option.

Now, you might be wondering why an essay in Bitcoin Magazine is discussing childbirth. The answer is simple: Bitcoin, like home birth, is rooted in the idea of trusting oneself and ones own abilities. Bitcoin is a decentralized, digital currency that enables secure and private transactions without...

Tin Foil HatWear It Proudly "IndyWatch Feed National"

Michael Hoffman Substack.com March 24, 2023

Directed-energy technology is the perfect covert weapon. It leaves no fingerprints and is non-attributable. For decades alternative researchers, activists and scientists sounded the alarm and some even resorted to the use of tin foil, placing it in the windows of their homes or fashioning head gear from it to protect themselves from the perceived threat. It may have been an inchoate action but at least it recognized there was a threat.

Those so engaged are taunted and jeered by the people who know better and who talk down to usthe corporate media and Hollywoods tastemakers and trend setters. The image of the tin foil hat has become a trope in American culture, a signature device for indicating who among us is a supposedly rational, intelligent human and who is a moronic paranoid, or so the Cryptocracy wants us to believe.

We acknowledge that satire and caricature are legitimate tools when reason and evidence have proved unable to dislodge superstition, logical fallacies or prejudice.

However, in some circumstances radically original ideas and pioneering research which undercut prevailing mythologies are mocked by partisans who have no cogent answers and no way of effectively defeating ideas and research they fear and detest.

There certainly are bamboozled people on both sides of the political spectrum whose naivet and/or confirmation bias are so intense and self-deluding online that they comprise what we have described as the Internet fever swamp.

One of our columns is titled The Right-wing fever swamp, which is an accurate profile of people who scour the Internet solely to obtain material they can use to buttress their biases and who have no real interest in the pursuit of the truth wherever it may lead, which is the main means by which knowledge is advanced.

In the case of the corporate media, whose job it is to suppress that which contradicts the dogma of the ruling class, scorn is employed to limit debate and suppress dissenting evidence before it can receive a fair hearing in the public square. These suppression tactics limit the advancement of knowledge and entrench the ruling class monopoly over information.

One category of lesser humans who the corporate media and entertainment conglomerate condition us to believe are deserving of our sneers and contempt, are Americans who espouse non-conformist views, disseminate dissenting information or ask heretical questions at variance with heavily propagated Establishment beliefs. These people are often said to metaphorically wear a tin-foil hat.

The tin-foil sneer is used to belittle or discredit those who hold beliefs that are outside an alleged consensus which in actuality has often been manufactured by notoriously....

In a POLITICO interview, Luxembourgs leader Xavier Bettel slams French push to include nuclear energy in EUs green tech plan.

BY SUZANNE LYNCH AND JAKOB HANKE VELA, MARCH 22, 2023

French President Emmanuel Macron is facing an uphill battle to persuade EU leaders to designate nuclear energy as a key green technology of the future, after one of his allies blasted his plan on the eve of a summit in Brussels.

Luxembourgs Prime Minister Xavier Bettel told POLITICO in an interview that while it is up to individual countries to choose their own energy mix, nuclear power must not benefit from an official European label that would give the vital French industry a boost.

Bettels criticism risks reinforcing divisions between Macron and his fellow leaders as they meet in Brussels to discuss the green tech plans at the European Council summit starting Thursday.

Nuclear is neither sustainable, nor safe, nor fast, Bettel said in an interview.  Some people think they are selling nuclear power as the answer to everything, he continued, but pointed out that it can take at least 10 years for a plant to be operational.

Secondly, we have had incidents at the international level which are worrying and which have had catastrophic repercussions for many other countries. And thirdly, we still have a problem with nuclear waste. We still dont know how to deal with it, so we cant say that it is safe and sustainable.

Frances energy diet is dominated by nuclear power and Macrons government has been lobbying Brussels to include nuclear energy in the EUs Net Zero Industry Act  a p...

Serbian President Calls on NATO to Answer for 1999 Bombing of Yugoslavia

Aleksandar Vucic stated that the Republic will forget about the NATO aggression only when all the Serbs are exterminated

Serbia's President Aleksandar Vucic Russian Foreign Ministry/TASS

BELGRADE, March 25. /TASS/. NATO should answer for the aggression against the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia in 1999, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said, speaking at commemorative events marking the 24th anniversary of NATO aggression against Yugoslavia.

"It's been 24 years since you tore our territory apart, killed 79 children, 2,500 citizens, not only civilians, but also soldiers and policemen. Who are you to kill our soldiers and policemen on your own territory and in your own country? Where did you get the right to kill our soldiers and our policemen? Who gave you this right?" the head of state said.

"You did not prevent any humanitarian disaster. You have armed rebel groups in one free and sovereign country, which did not set foot on the territory of another country," Vucic pointed out.

The Serbian president also stated that the Republic will forget about the NATO aggression in 1999 only when all the Serbs are exterminated.

Serbia commemorates the 24th anniversary of NATO's aggression against Yugoslavia. This year's central commemorative event takes place in Sombor, where the first bomb fell in 1999 and the first Serbian citizen died. Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, the president of Republika Srpska, Serbian Patriarch Porfirije and thousands of citizens were participants in the rally and spectators of the theatrical performance in Sombor.

NATO's aggression against the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia began on March 24, 1999 and lasted 78 days. The main reason for the NATO offensive operation Allied Force was to prevent the genocide of the Albanian population in Kosovo. According to NATO, during the operation, the aviation of NATO countries has made 38,000 military flights, with over 10,000 of them aimed at delivering bombs.

According to Serbian information, as a result of the bombing, 3,500 to 4,00...

Dammit, Richard "IndyWatch Feed National"

So much wrong.

Transcript below the fold.

This is a sad, disappointing video for me. Once again, Richard Dawkins screws up in a television interview, this time with Piers Morgan. His first mistake was appearing on a program with that loutish oaf and pandering to a lot of conservative nonsense without reservation. Morgan is a Catholic of the stupid flavor, and argues with him that a failure of evolution is that no human brain can explain what nothing is, and it all goes downhill from there. I could dwell on the idiocy of much of the conversation, in which Id mainly take Dawkins side, but I wont I think Dawkins should have just walked out on the persistent fool in the first five minutes. I would have.

Then they started on sex. Ill focus on one thing.

[clip: As a biologist, there are two sexes, and thats all there is to it.]

Thats not true. Theres a lot more to it. But I can understand why he said it.

Dawkins reputation is as an eloquent science popularizer, but what he has been popularizing is a strongly reductionist view of biology, favoring a gene-centric perspective that was developed by Hamilton, Trivers, Williams, and Maynard Smith. Its a valid and useful perspective that has been successful in answering questions about evolution. Dawkins gives a great example of this view in the interview when he tries to explain lifes origin.

[clip: replicators]

Hes not wrong. My objection is with that phrase, thats all there is to it. Its a gross oversimplification of both evolution and sex. He has to know that, and if he were pinned down on that phrase something Piers Morgan is ill-equipped to do hed probably squirm uncomfortably and admit that it is a simplification, but a useful one. Id add that it may be useful, but its also incomplete and lazy.

For example: there are two sexes, and thats all there is to it. I can see where hes coming from, thats a common view among many TERFs/Gender Criticals who think its a slam dunk argument to say that there are only two kinds of gametes, eggs and sperm, and therefore there can only be two kinds of sexes. My problem with that is that its incomplete. We are not sperm and eggs. We are not simply gametes, or even meat robots bumbling about with a small package of sperm or eggs, even if that is a metaphor Ive heard scientists use.

As a developmental biologist, the idea that there are only two sexes because there a...

Generally, you were a goner unless you dobbed in someone else for real or imaginary crimes against the Party, or turned informant. Files released after the fall of the Berlin Wall showed one in six East Germans were informants on their family, friends and neighbours. Just as we didn't get class Marxism but instead identity Marxism in the West, we haven't got government communism, either. Not in the same way as the Eurasian nations had it last century. Sneaky AiG "IndyWatch Feed National"

Part of the money-making strategy at Answers in Genesis is to constantly promote how popular they are in a never ending cycle of self-fulfilling prophecy. One of the recent lies has been that they bring in so many tourists that hotel chains are building new places near the Ark Park to meet the booming demand.

It is true that the country contains many yokels who like to vacation in a boring wooden box that reassures them that their interpretation of the Bible is true, but its not exactly a growth industry. Theyve had to constantly misrepresent their popularity to get support from state and local government, and wouldnt you know it, hotels arent springing up all around the place. Ken Ham has been bragging about one new hotel in the neighborhood, but surprise surprise, it isnt in response to demand AiG is spending its own money to have it built. Gotta spend money to make money, you know. If that involves building a whole Potemkin village to make themselves look popular, thats what theyll do.

Ken Ham is being quiet that Answers in Genesis (AIG) owns part, or perhaps all, of the new Hampton Inn that just opened adjacent to the Ark Encounter in Williamstown, Kentucky. Moreover, he is trying to make it look as if the supposed success of the Ark Park has brought the new hotel to the region. Information below shows that AIG shares a high-level employee with the new hotel, and the LLC that owns the hotel shares a Post Office box with AIG.

AiG is perfectly within its rights to use its own money to build a hotel to serve its little attraction, but it does bring into question the purpose of all those tax subsidies it has received, and I also wonder why they are so desperate to hide their role.

Fabulous new housing development going up in Wiliamstown, Kentucky!

Notorious Australian neo-Nazi joins Ukrainian forces to fight Russia - media "IndyWatch Feed National"

Canberra had tried but failed to prevent the violent criminal with deep extremist ties from traveling, local media has reported. Daniel Newman, a far-right extremist and a violent criminal, has flown from Australia to Ukraine to join the fight against Russian troops, Australia's Sydney Morning Herald (SMH) newspaper reported on Thursday, citing its sources. The development coincides with efforts by Canberra to prevent violent extremists from traveling to the war-torn country to gain combat experience, SMH said. Newman first traveled to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and then to Europe in February, before arriving in Ukraine this month, the report claims, adding that the man had supposedly told his associates he was planning to take up arms against Russian forces.

Ukraine war planned for the Great Reset? "IndyWatch Feed National"

kla.TV March 24, 2023

February 24th marked the anniversary of the invasion of Ukraine by Russian troops. One year of war and no end in sight! zdf.de wrote, The Kremlin had a lightning bolt victory in mind when it attacked Ukraine a year ago. Twelve months later, there is a stalemate between Kiev and Moscow Neither Moscow nor Kiev is willing to negotiate on the basis of the status quo. Well, a blitzkrieg was supposedly planned but there has now been more than a year of war. More and more people in Europe, but also in the Ukraine itself, are asking the question, Is Russia really not capable of achieving a military victory?

If, however, you compare the military strength of Russia and the Ukraine in 2022, the Russian army should be far superior.

Are there ultimately other goals behind this war than Moscow is ostensibly communicating? Could it therefore even be a matter of design that there is no end in sight? This program tries to find possible answers to these questions.

First of all, we have to look at the motives and intentions Moscow put forward for the war. Purported motives for the war:

  1. Eastward expansion of NATO and the threat of the Ukraines entry into NATO
  2. Aid to the Donbass Peoples Republics
  3. Denazification of the Ukraine.

The eastward expansion of NATO, as Putin calls it, right up to Russias borders has taken place in five steps since 1999. Other candidates would include Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Kazakhstan and the Ukraine. That this does not please Russia is hard to deny.

The conflict in the eastern Ukraine, which has been ongoing since 2014, had by the end of 2018 alone cost the lives of 13,000 people, including some 3,300 civilians, according to UN figures. Attacks by Ukrainian troops on the population in the Donbass increased dramatically from mid-February 2022, before Russian troops had entered the country. OSCE neutral observers counted up to 1,400 explosions per day from February 17, 2022. 100,000 civilians were reportedly evacuated to the interior or to Russia for protection. The Azov Regiment is a volunteer battalion that became part of the National Guard of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Ukraine in 2014. According to Wikipedia, the unit is controversial because of links to far-right groups and Nazi symbolism.

Judy Woods 9-11 Thesis and How We Can Deal with Our Treason "IndyWatch Feed National"

Photo: front cover of the book Where Did the Towers Go?

by Mary W Maxwell, LLB

Judy Woods 20006 book Where Did the Towers Go? is a masterpiece. I am only up to page 78 so far. Dr Wood (PhD in mechanical engineering) easily disproves the claim that the collapse of WTC twin towers was caused by fire, as is ludicrously touted by the NIST (thats the National Institutes of Standards and Technology, within the US Commerce Department).

But she has also destroyed the theory of controlled demolition, the pancaking of the 110 floors of the tower. She presents instead an explanation based on directed energy, a la Nicola Teslas work which has been hidden from the public.

I find it annoying that Dr Wood gets hostile when people refer to her work as theory or opinion. She says she only collects empiric...

Hospital admissions double and its got to be down to the vaccines "IndyWatch Feed National"

By Guy Hatchard | TCW Defending Freedom | March 24, 2023

Data from the New Zealand Ministry of Health has revealed a massive 103 per cent increase in hospitalisations among 12 disease categories measured in 2021 following the mRNA rollout. This calls into serious question the safety of medical interventions such as mRNA vaccines which penetrate the cell wall and re-program activity in the cell cytoplasm.

NZ had very few cases of Covid in 2021 due to draconian restrictions. Therefore the only reasonable cause of the disease increase is mRNA vaccination.

There were 38,178 extra hospitalisations in 2021 across the 12 categories compared with 2019 figures. The Ministry of Health tracks 37 disease categories, and figures for the remaining 25, including cancer, have not yet been released. These figures alone mean that New Zealanders had greater than a 1 in 90 chance of hospitalisation within one year of Covid vaccination. You can read a longer discussion of the figures here.

Similar disastrous figures have surfaced in official data from Western Australia (greater than 1 in 100 chance of serious injury).

Last week in the UK, MP Andrew Bridgen again attempted to captu...

CHD Responds to Significant Increase in Autism Prevalence: 1 in 36 Children "IndyWatch Feed National"

Press Statement

For Immediate Release

Washington, D.C. On Thursday, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released new data from the Autism and Developmental Disabilities Monitoring (ADDM) Network, reporting 1 in 36 (2.8%) 8-year-old children 4% of boys and 1% of girls have an autism spectrum disorder (ASD), based on an analysis of data from 2020. Since the CDC began collecting data, prevalence estimates have skyrocketed from 1 in 150 in 2000 to todays estimate of 1 in 36 children.

In response to the CDCs announcement, Childrens Health Defense (CHD) Chairman and Chief Litigation Counsel Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. said:

Its clear why CDC steadfastly refuses to investigate the cause of the exploding Autism epidemic, a national cataclysm that dwarfs the devastating impacts from COVID-19: The principal culprits are regulatory capture and poorly tested vaccines.

President and General Counsel Mary Holland said:

These new data that 4% of boys and 1% of girls at age 8 have an autism spectrum disorder are a profound indictment of the CDC. It is willful blindness to knowingly and intentionally look away from the true causes of autism for over twenty years during which time the rates have risen above 300% is nothing short of criminal. The country and the world desperately need new leadership to defend childrens health.

Brian Hooker, Ph.D., chief scientific officer for CHD said:

The CDC gives no rationale for the shocking increase in the incidence of autism in children in the U.S. except for better diagnosing and better access to services. We know that this is ludicrous, especially given the higher incidences of autism seen in underserved minority children and the alarming rate of autism with intellectual disability in Black children. Its time for real answers as to what is driving this ever-increasing epidemic.

Covid, imaginary pandemic of the brainwashed "IndyWatch Feed National"

By James Delingpole | TCW Defending Freedom | March 24, 2023

Tell me about your personal experiences of Covid 19. Actually, wait, dont. I think I may have heard it already, about a million times. You lost all sense of smell or taste and just how weird was that? It floored you for days. It gave you a funny dry cough, the dryness and ticklishness of which was unprecedented in your entire coughing career. Youve had flu a couple of times and, boy, when youve got real flu do you know it. But this definitely wasnt flu. It was so completely different from anything youve ever known, why you wouldnt be surprised to learn that it had been bioengineered in a lab with all manner of spike proteins and gain-of-function additives, perhaps even up to and including fragments of the Aids virus . . .

Yeah, right. Forgive me for treading on the sacred, personal domain of your lived experience. But might I cautiously suggest that none of what you went through necessarily validates lab-leak theory. Rather what it may demonstrate is the power of susceptibility, brainwashing and an overactive imagination. You lived we all did through a two-year period in which health-suffering anecdotes became valuable currency. Whereas in the years before the pandemic, no one had been much interested in the gory details of your nasty cold, suddenly everyone wanted to compare notes to see whether theyd had it as bad as you or, preferably, for the sake of oneupmanship, even worse. This in turn created a self-reinforcing mechanism of Covid panic escalation: the more everyone talked about it, the more inconvertible the pandemic became.

Meanwhile, in the real world, hard evidence as opposed to anecdotal evidence for this pandemic remained stubbornly non-existent. The clincher for me was a landmark article published in January 2021 by Simon Elmer at his website Architects For Social Housing. It was titled Lies, Damned Lies and Statistics: Manufacturing the Crisis.

In it Elmer asked the question every journalist should have asked but which almost none did: is this pandemic really as serious as all the experts, and government ministers and media outlets and medics are telling us it is? The answer was a very obvious No. As the Office for National Statistics data cited by Elmer clearly showed, 2020 Year Zero for supposedly the biggest public health threat since Spanish Flu a century earlier was one of the milder years for death in the lives of most people.

Lets be clear about this point, because something you often hear people on the sceptical side of the argument say is, Of course, no one is suggesting that Covid didnt cause a horrific number of deaths. But thats exactly what they should be suggesting:...

Oldest evidence of a meteor collision with Earth discovered in Australia "IndyWatch Feed National"

Scientists in Australia have unearthed 3.48 billion-year-old rock fragments that may be the earliest evidence of a meteorite crashing into Earth. The fragments, known as spherules, may have formed when the meteor slammed into the ground, spraying melted rock into the air. This melted rock then cooled and hardened into pinhead-size beads that became buried over the eons. Researchers presented this discovery, which has not been peer-reviewed, at the 54th Lunar and Planetary Science Conference in Texas last week. In a summary of their results , the scientists concluded that the spherules, which they drilled up from a group of volcanic and sedimentary rocks called the Dresser Formation of the Pilbara Craton in Western Australia, are "the oldest evidence of a potential bolide impact in the geologic record of Earth." (A bolide is a large meteor that explodes in the atmosphere while falling to Earth.)

Can we stop playing make believe? Where are the adults when it comes to Ukraine? "IndyWatch Feed National"

There are still a number of unanswered questions about the incident that downed the MQ9 Predator off the coast of Crimea on Tuesday. The MQ9 turned off its Identification, Friend or Foe (IFF) transponder. Russian air defense systems were tracking the drone. Russian jet fighters were scrambled to intercept the drone. The United States and NATO have been flying drones along the Crimea coast for more than a year. The drone was brought down without a shot being fired by the Russian combat jet fighters. So far the United States and Russian military are sticking with the same story i.e, one of the planes clipped the drone's propeller accidentally, which cause the drone to crash. We are in full blown Kabuki theater. The United States insists this drone was harmless, just minding its own business, when an incompetent...

3 Reasons Californias Drought Isnt Really Over, Despite All the Rain (Maria)

The author writes, Ask a water expert if Californias drought is finally done, and the answers sound something like this: Yes and no. Kind of. Depends what you mean by drought. The state has been deluged by storms this winter, hit by 12 atmospheric rivers that have led to evacuation orders, rising rivers and broken levees. But in California, water shortages arent just due to a lack of rain, and the states chronic water problems are far from over.

As oceans warm, temperate reef species edge closer to extinction, study shows "IndyWatch Feed National"

Marine heat waves have led to widespread population declines of Australian shallow reef species, particularly those associated with temperate reefs, new research suggests. In a new study published in Nature, scientists draw on extensive reef survey data to assess population trends of 1,057 common shallow reef species, including fish, corals, seaweeds and invertebrates. They found that populations of 57% of these species declined between 2008 and 2021. Moreover, 28% of these surveyed species experienced declines of more than 30%, which would qualify them as threatened with extinction if assessed according to IUCN Red List criteria, the authors say. For instance, the study found that the weedy seadragon (Phyllopteryx taeniolatus), a fish endemic to southern Australia, decreased by 59% from 2011 to 2021. According to the study, most of these declines happened after warming events, specifically when the water temperature rose by more than about 0.5 Celsius (0.9 Fahrenheit) above 2008 levels. Conversely, warming that didnt exceed 0.5C led to an increase in some species. In this paper, we detected a 0.5-degree threshold over which we really saw significant biodiversity change, Amanda Bates, study co-author and marine ecologist at the University of Victoria, tells Mongabay. I analyzed some of the data sets from Tasmania, and I know there was significant change in those locations. But I think what was special about this analysis is it allowed us to test for relative change across all of Australia, including Tasmania. So that allowed us to compare the relative shifts that are happening across thisThis article was originally published on Mongabay

Fish kills leave Kenyas Lake Victoria farmers at a loss, seeking answers "IndyWatch Feed National"

KISUMU, Kenya It is a little past 5 p.m. at the lakeside city of Kisumu, in the western part of Kenya. An hour later, the sun sets over the sprawling Lake Victoria as far as the eye can see. Wisps of gray clouds are infused with the suns amber rays, which reflect off the lake in a bedazzling shimmer. The scene is captivating, but a faint stench lingers in the air. That stench, to many cage fish farmers, is a painful reminder of the extensive losses they suffered in November 2022 due to fish kills. A report commissioned by Kenyas State Department for Fisheries, Aquaculture and the Blue Economy estimates that cage farmers in different sections of Lake Victoria, particularly Kisumu and Homa Bay towns, lost more than 900 million shillings ($7.2 million) to fish kills in 2022. While the scientists Mongabay speaks to attribute the fish kills to a combination of natural phenomena and climate change, the fish farmers are wary of those explanations, saying the deaths could be a result of pollution. Fish farmers in Lake Victoria mainly stock tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus), which, according to scientists, are preferred due to their fast growth, resistance to disease and ability to withstand low dissolved oxygen levels. Tilapia and Nile perch (Lates niloticus) are the two most abundant fish species in the lake, and tilapia is more profitable in the local market. Two of the fish farms, Kentila Farms and Lake Aqua Limited, suffered the greatest losses: 200.4 million shillingsThis article was originally published on Mongabay

Narendra Modis Cricket Coup "IndyWatch Feed National"

What a coup. Nakedly amoral but utterly self-serving in its saccharine minted glory. Indias showman Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who otherwise appears to have clerkish, desk-bound qualities, had what he wanted: an accommodating, possibly clueless guest in the form of the Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese; a common interest in Indias national sport cricket, and a show illuminating him as supreme Hindu leader presiding over a new age of politics. For Albanese, this was ill-fitting and disturbing but all in keeping with the occasion.

This month, Albanese, who has been held to the bosom of great powers of late, found himself at the mercy of cricket diplomacy at the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad. He had been placed upon an improvised golf car with Modi prior to the start of the fourth cricket test between Australia and India. But Albanese was not merely Modis guest; he was also appearing in a stadium named after the prime minister he was keeping company with. Modesty had been exorcised; pomp and narcissism had taken its place.

The cricketers of the national sides were not spared florid manipulation and flowery exploitation. In India, cricket makes the god fearing, beer swilling followers of soccer look like mild agnostics of some reserve and domestic sensibility. In the Indian cricket canon, players are sanctified from across the globe, added to a sanctuary of permanent adoration in something reminiscent of ancient tradition. Much like the deities of the Roman Empire, all great cricket players, from Antigua to Sydney, find their spiritual holy ground on Indian soil, forever assimilated.

For Modi, this all meant opportunity and glory. He is the classically dangerous politician for those of the broadly described West who think they understand him. Supple, gentle, oleaginous, Modi is both unscrupulous and prone to wooing. And Albanese was there to keep him company. The teams of two great cricket nations were effectively shoehorned into the show, with Modi and Albanese giving the captains of their respective countries their caps before the games commencement.

The nexus of power in world cricket and its link Modi was also affirmed by the presence of officials from the enormously powerful Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). They were on hand to give Modi that most vulgar of gifts: a gaudily framed photo of himself.

The scenes should have made Albanese feel uncomfortable. While Australian officials, business types and opportunists dream of market opportunities in India, it is also worth appreciating what Modi is. This is only relevant given the mighty, moral bent Canberra takes on such matters: the Chinese and Russians are seen as barbarians hammering away at the rules-based...

Russia Will Not Return to Council of Europe Diplomat

Divorce with Strasbourg is not a whim, its a well-thought decision that took a few years to rip, Nikolay Kobrinets said

Sergei Fadeichev/TASS

MOSCOW, March 24. /TASS/. Over the past year, Russia understood that its decision to quit the Council of Europe was the right thing to do, and will not return to this organization in the future, a senior Russian diplomat has told TASS in an interview.

Director of the Russian Foreign Ministrys Department of European Cooperation Nikolay Kobrinets said: "The past year proved to us that we had made the right choice [to quit the Council of Europe]."

"Our divorce with Strasbourg is not a whim, its a well-thought decision that took a few years to ripe. The Council of Europe of the present day is far from what it used to be back in 1996. Double standards, hypocrisy and Russophobia are its distinctive traits now. Clearly, with the Council of Europe of this kind, our ways have parted," the Russian diplomat said.

Kobrinets went on to say that unification principles and democratic ideals, proclaimed by the Council of Europes Charter were "sacrificed to bloc interests." In his words, the West turned the organization into its ideological appendage and used it to "impose its dubious progressivist values" on Russia and to put pressure on its government and people.

"The page has been turned. There is nothing to regret," the Russian diplomat added.

He said that Russia was not going to tarnish its 26-year-long history as a Council of Europe member.

"There were lots of useful things, particularly for the development of the Russian legislation. But this chapter is now closed," Kobrinets said.

Russia withdrew from the Council of Europe in March 2022. According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, NATO and European Union countries, who abuse their absolute majority in the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe (CMCE), continue to pursue "a course towards the destruction of the Council of Europe and the common humanitarian and legal space in Europ...

Sols on a mission to help local dingoes "IndyWatch Feed Northcoast"

A local advocate wants to tear down the myths about dingoes, and stop their treatment as wild dogs, which she says they are not.

Launched in June last year, the Northern Rivers Dingo Advocacy group hopes to educate people about our local dingoes. Group founder, Sol Herrer, there are too many falsehoods about this ancient canid, whose lineage split very early on from todays domestic dog.

Dingoes are still classed as a pest species by the government and the agriculture industry. They renamed the dingo a wild dog and they are not!, Herrer told The Echo.

Local dingoes to this area are not ginger

Herrer says the local dingoes to this area are not ginger, like the coastal and inland groups. Dingoes come in many colours, because they need camouflage in their habitat. The rainforest dingoes are very dark and sometimes tri-coloured, which often leads people to think they are wild dogs, as they look like black kelpies.

There is no need to fear...

After Disaster film and live concert, March 27 "IndyWatch Feed Northcoast"

Working with kids from both The Pocket Primary and Upper Main Arm Primary in the aftermath of the 2022 floods, Janet Swain saw a need to support these kids, many of whom had experienced the full force of the floods and landslips, not once, but twice.

Some lost family homes and property and were displaced from their school.

With many years of experience with the healing and connective nature of music, Janet set about to create a program to help explore and express some of the traumatic impacts the 2022 floods left on our young people.

And with funding through the NSW governments Reconnecting Regional NSW Grants program, The After Disaster Project was born.

The project consists of four local songwriters Harry James Angus, Emily Lubitz, Ash Grunwald and Janet Swain, who worked with the kids to create a song cycle about the floods, climate change and future action.

Additionally, composer and percussionists, Michael and Samaya Askill, mentored Main Arm students to create a sonic reflection on the flood event.

It all culminated in a big free concert for our commun...

Adams second bite at the Lismore apple "IndyWatch Feed Northcoast"

Adam Guise. Photo Tree Faerie.

The Greens candidate for the seat of Lismore, Adam Guise has run this race once before in 2015, where he gained a notable swing toward the Greens in the primary vote and after the preferences were allocated, he had 47 per cent of the votes and a 21 per cent swing.

Not a result to scoff at. However, the recent redistribution of boundaries in the seat of Lismore, which might include more voters who would preference Greens first, may actually make it more likely for Nationals to win the seat. According to abc.net.aus election analysis for the seat, it has [gained] 2,000 electors in an area around Federal and Wilsons Creek from Ballina where the Greens recorded more than half the first preference vote. This lifts Lismores Labor margin versus the Nationals from 1.3 per cent to an estimated 2.0 per cent, but also narrows the gap between Labor and the Greens on first preferences. If the new boundaries resulted in the Greens passing Labor on first preferences, then the Nationals would hold Lismore with a 2.4 per cent margin versus the Greens.

Committee Chair: You may proceed with your statement for the record.

Fmr Director Hoover: I have been asked to testify regarding the risks of the TikTok application and its implications for national security. In this matter we are dealing with technologies that I have not directly experienced, but I have had plenty of time to keep abreast of developments in technology, and, let me state with certainty, that these things do not represent anything dramatically new; they bring problems that weve dealt with to some degree or another since World War I. Admittedly, the asian race the Chinese communists that we are up against are a more serious threat than a European people, but the basics remain the same. I will, however, explain my experience in terms of recent events, since some of the younger people in the room may not be experienced with history. [laughter; Hoover was looking directly at Dianne Feinstein as he said that]

The FBIs responsibility is domestic counter-espionage, crime prevention, and counter-terrorism. I believe our most important duty is to deter and combat communist spies, and to prevent the communists from infiltrating the liberal left, who are all too happy to threaten national security with their irresponsibility. Lately, the FBI has also been tasked with combating right wing terror which is a concept I do not fully support because often that amounts to making sure that patriots among us do not get carried away. We are constantly balancing Americans liberties against the necessity of counter-intelligence and law enforcement.

Now, let me briefly describe TikTok as I understand it. It is a Chinese communist made and provided app that runs on individuals portable computers. the 1933 Bank Holiday Can it Happen Again? "IndyWatch Feed Nsw"

QUESTION: Marty there are a lot of people who seem to be trying to create a panic. Some are claiming the stock market will plunge by 50%. Others are saying nothing will survive other than gold. It seems like none of these people have any sense of what is really unfolding. They were saying the same thing for different reasons before the banking crisis. Can you offer any historical perspective?

Thank you. You seem to be the only real source these days.

Pete

ANSWER: The Bank Holiday took place the first week of March 1933. It began with governors closing down the banks in their states. Once one began, like COVID rules, they quickly jumped on the bandwagon. As reported by March 4th, 1933, some 41 states had already declared a banking holiday. Back then, the president took office in March not January. Thus, Roosevelt was sworn in on March 4th, 1933. As the new president, FDR delivered what is arguably his best-known speech.

So, first of all, let me assert my firm belief that the only thing we have to fear isfear itself nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance. In every dark hour of our national life a leadership of frankness and of vigor has met with that understanding and support of the people themselves which is essential to victory. And I am convinced that you will again give that support to leadership in these critical days.

The Fed Does Not Back Down "IndyWatch Feed Nsw"

COMMENT: Marty, its refreshing to have Socrates that is totally unbiased. It projected continued rising rates into next year and the Fed just proved its point. It is not backing down.

Thank you. Socrates is very enlightening.

GS

ANSWER: I know there were a lot of talks that surely the Fed had to lower rates and start QE all over again. Most of those sorts of comments have no real experience in markets. They just mouth a lot of hot air. Perhaps instead of putting masks on cows, we should do that on the shills. The Federal Reserve had no choice but to raise interest rates although it was just by a quarter point. Not to do so and the Fed would lose all credibility and the market would then not take them seriously.

You MUST understand that this crisis has unfolded because too many banks were wrapped up in WOKE culture and hired people who were UNQUALIFIED to run risk management. Some were more excited about cross-dressing as a woman and winning the Rainbow award in banking than actually protecting the bank from the risk of rising interest rates.

In a statement released at the conclusion of the meeting, Fed officials acknowledged that recent financial market turmoil is weighing on inflation and the economy, though they expressed confidence in the overall system. The US banking system is sound and resilient. They had no choice but to make this statement.

Recent developments are likely to result in tighter credit conditions for households and businesses and to weigh on economic activity, hiring and inflation. The extent of these effects is uncertain.

The Fed is saying that their rise in rates will in fact reduce inflation and economic activity. Th...

Why I dont believe there ever was a Covid virus "IndyWatch Feed Nsw"

By Dr Mike Yeadon | TCW Defending Freedom | March 22, 2023

Ive grown increasingly frustrated about the way debate is controlled around the topic of origins of the alleged novel virus, SARS-CoV-2, and I have come to disbelieve its ever been in circulation, causing massive scale illness and death. Concerningly, almost no one will entertain this possibility, despite the fact that molecular biology is the easiest discipline in which to cheat. Thats because you really cannot do it without computers, and sequencing requires complex algorithms and, importantly, assumptions. Tweaking algorithms and assumptions, you can hugely alter the conclusions.

This raises the question of why there is such an emphasis on the media storm around Fauci, Wuhan and a possible lab escape. After all, the perpetrators have significant control over the media. Theres no independent journalism at present. It is not as though they need to embarrass the establishment.  I put it to readers that theyve chosen to do so.

So who do I mean by they and the perpetrators?  There are a number of candidates competing for this position, with their drug company accomplices, several of whom are named in Paula Jardines excellent five-part series for TCW, Anatomy of the sinister Covid project. High on the list is the enabling World Economic Forum and their many political acolytes including Justin Trudeau and Jacinda Aderne.

But that doesnt answer the question why are they focusing on the genesis of the virus. In my view, they are doing their darnedest to make sure you regard this event exactly as they want you to. Specifically, that there was a novel virus.

Im not alone in believing that myself at the beginning of the pandemic, but over time Ive seen sufficient evidence to cast strong doubt on that idea. Additionally, when considered as part of a global coup dtat, I have put myself in the position of the most senior, hidden perpetrators. In a Q&A, they would learn that the effect of a released novel pathogen couldnt be predicted accurately. It might burn out rapidly. Or it might turn out to be quite a lot more lethal than theyd expected, demolishing advanced civilisations. Those top decision-makers would, I submit, conclude that this natural risk is intolerable to them. They crave total control, and the wide range of possible outcomes from a deliberate release militates against this plan of action: No, were not going to do this. Come back with a plan with very much reduced uncertainty on outcomes.

The alternative I think theyve used is to add one more lie to the tall stack of lies which has s....

Juveniles Locked Up for Life Will Get a Second Chance in New Mexico. But the State Must Locate Them First. "IndyWatch Feed Nsw"

ProPublica is a nonprofit newsroom that investigates abuses of power. Sign up for Dispatches, a newsletter that spotlights wrongdoing around the country, to receive our stories in your inbox every week.

Over the weekend, New Mexico abolished life without parole prison sentences for juveniles, affirming that people who make even the most serious mistakes as teenagers should have a second chance. The new law, signed by Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham, also requires that current prisoners serving decades behind bars for crimes they committed as minors get a parole hearing.

ProPublica reported earlier this month that the New Mexico Corrections Department had lost track of at least 21 juvenile lifers, apparently unaware of who the eligible prisoners are, where they are and how they will be identified for the parole hearings that they now, under the law, deserve.

In a statement Monday in response to ProPublicas reporting, Grishams office said that the corrections agency, which answers to the governor, is working to screen all prisoners in its custody who are serving life sentences, in order to compile a list of those newly eligible for parole.

The effort to find them may require the department to go back through the individual court records of prisoners who entered NMCD custody at or around 18 years old including some who are now being held in out-of-state facilities to see if their crime was committed before that age. It also will mean working with the ACLU of New Mexico, which has led the effort to identify these individuals.

The New Mexico law is premised on multiple recent Supreme Court decisions and studies of brain science that have found that kids are impulsive, prone to risk-taking, bad at understanding the consequences of their actions and highly susceptible to peer pressure (often committing their offenses among groups of friends), all of which make them less culpable than adults when they commit crimes. They are also,...

Blackout: Sy Hersh Says US, Germany Coordinated NYT False Cover Story for Nord Stream Bombing "IndyWatch Feed Nsw"

By Fantine Gardinier Sputnik 22.03.2023

On September 26, 2022, a massive explosion ripped through the Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines on the Baltic seabed, severing a major natural gas connection and releasing colossal amounts of methane. The US had long objected to the line, which runs from Russia to Germany, urging Europe to buy more expensive US gas instead.

A new report by investigative journalist Seymour Hersh lays blame at the feet of US and German intelligence for a New York Times article claiming it was Ukrainian terrorists, not US Navy divers, who bombed the Nord Stream pipeline last September. Hersh said it was part of a coordinated blackout of his expose of Washingtons role in the attack.

There is no evidence that any reporter assigned there has yet to ask the White House press secretary whether Biden had done what any serious leader would do: formally task the American intelligence community to conduct a deep investigation, with all of its assets, and find out just who had done the deed in the Baltic Sea, Hersh wrote on Wednesday.

According to a source within the intelligence community, the president has not done so, nor will he, the journalist asserted. Why not? Because he knows the answer.

Hersh pointed to a curious meeting in Washington earlier this month between Biden and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in which both media and aides were almost totally absent.

There have been no statements or written understandings made public since then by either government, but I was told by someone with access to diplomatic intelligence that there was a discussion of the pipeline expos and, as a result, certain elements in the Central Intelligence Agency were asked to prepare a cover story in collaboration with German intelligence that would provide the American and German press with an alternative version for the destruction of Nord Stream 2, Hersh wrote.

In the words of the intelligence community, the agency was to pulse the system in an effort to discount the claim that Biden had ordered the pipelines destruction, he explained.

Indeed, The New York Times, which was one of two newspapers that ran the story, has admitted in the past to letting the CIA proofread certain stories before publishing them.

Along with the NYT, which published an article on March 7 claiming a pro-Ukrainian group might have been behind the pipeline explosion, the German weekly Der Zeit published a companion piece that same day claiming German investigative officials had found a luxury yacht chartered by a group of Ukrainians under false pretenses in the area of the explosions just a few wee...

White House Releases Economic Report On Bitcoin: Here's What They Got Wrong "IndyWatch Feed Nsw"

The latest report from the Biden Administration writes off the benefits of Bitcoin while ignoring the fundamentals and economic activity that give it value.

The White House has released the extensive Economic Report of the President, which included a section titled Digital Assets: Relearning Economic Principles. This section detailed Bitcoin, its functionality and various possible benefits that proponents claim for this popularity of crypto assets.

The proponents claims the report intends to address vary from crypto assets serving as investment vehicles and enabling fast digital payments, to improving the United States current financial technology infrastructure. The report then addresses the Reality of Crypto Assets, as the section is so titled, setting the record straight in the eyes of the Administration.

Compared with many other asset types, crypto assets are very volatile, and, hence, highly risky, the report begins with. Because they are very volatile, crypto assets can be used for speculation, an investment strategy that seeks to make a profit from short-run trading. One reason many crypto assets are highly volatile is that many of them do not have a fundamental value. It then goes on to provide the example of stocks and debt, comparing them to unbacked crypto assets [that] are traded without fundamental anchors, suggesting that their market prices only reflect speculative demand, or market sentiment, not claims on cash flow.

In between this and the next statement, is an interjection Box 8-2 which details How Does Bitcoin Work? This box, coincidentally, may serve as the answer to the question of, what is Bitcoins fundamental value? in its description of the inner workings of Bitcoin.

Straw manning bitcoins proponents, the report then goes on to state that one of the purported benefits of crypto assets like bitcoin was to hedge against inflation, meaning that their value does not erode as inflation increases. But as inflation increased globally in the second half of 2021 and in 2022, the prices of crypto assets collapsed, proving them to be, at best, an ineffective inflation hedge. While the inflation narrative surrounding the 2020-2021 bull market did prove a distraction, the price of bitcoin still soared during the pandemic, reaching all time highs of $69,000. Besides that, bitcoin has still been serving as a store of value for those living in countries with highly i...

Famous person found to have ordinary genetic history "IndyWatch Feed Nsw"

Its only about 200 years old, pulling a DNA sequence out of a hair sample is a piece of cake. So Beethovens DNA has been sequenced. He even gave permission!

In 1802, German composer Ludwig van Beethoven wrote a heart-wrenching letter to his brothers, describing the deafness that forced him to live like an exile and yearn for death. Beethoven kept going for another 25 years, propelled by his music, but he begged them to have his hearing loss studied and publicized, so that so far as possible, the world may be reconciled to me after my death.

Two centuries later, a team of international researchers has answered that plea by sequencing Beethovens DNA, preserved in locks of his hair that collaborators and fans collected as treasured keepsakes.

The central ailment of Beethovens life was his hearing loss, which began in his mid-20s. He also suffered from debilitating gastrointestinal symptoms and attacks of jaundice. An autopsy revealed that he had cirrhosis of the liver, pancreatitis and a swollen spleen. Medical biographers have debated what killed him and whether his liver disease was the result of excessive drinking or some other cause.

There are limits to what you can do with DNA. They found no genetic evidence for his hearing loss. They did find signs of a susceptibility to liver disease, and that he had hepatitis B. There is absolutely no indication of a genetic source for his musical talent. Id go so far as to say it is silly to select a 19th century person for a genetic analysis on the basis of musical ability, which is mostly going to be due to circumstance, rather than intrinsic nature (there may be exceptions, like the heritability of perfect pitch, but even that is pretty wobbly.

They did discover something that ol Ludwig Van would not have anticipated and probably wouldnt want advertized.

The analysis also yielded a surprise: Beethovens Y chromosome didnt match those from living relatives. The common relative they all share was Aert van Beethoven, who lived in the 16th century. Somewhere in the seven generations between Aert and Ludwig van Beethoven, a woman in the family tree had a child with an unknown man, and Beethoven seems to be a descendant of that pairing.

Weve probably all got evidence of ancestral indiscretions in our genes, though, so that shouldnt reflect on Beethoven, or on his unidentified female ancestor.
