Congress Suddenly Wants to Know If US Taxpayers Were Helping El Chapo "IndyWatch Feed Nsw"

After flying under the radar for years, the case of Genaro Garca Luna is finally raising alarms in Congress, with one of the Senate's top Republicans demanding answers about how Mexico's highest-ranking cop was able to partner with DEA and FBI, "at the time that he funneled roughly 103,000 pounds of cocaine into the United States" for the Sinaloa Cartel. Garca Luna became the most senior Mexican law enforcement official ever convicted of narco-corruption when a Brooklyn federal jury delivered a unanimous guilty verdict on a five-count indictment that charged him with taking massive bribes to enable cartel drug smuggling, kidnappings, and murders while he was in office from 2001 to 2012. Garca Luna's position involved close collaboration with U.S. anti-narcotics agencies that operate in Mexico, and it gave him discretion over the spending of hundreds of millions in American tax dollars delivered as security aid. That money was supposed to go toward fighting the cartels, but his trial showed he was leaking sensitive intelligence, protecting drug shipments, and disrupting efforts to capture ... cartel leaders. On Feb. 22, a day after the guilty verdict, Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley sent a letter to the heads of the DEA and FBI asking what the agencies knew about Garca Luna and when, and demanding evidence ... that could shed new light on the relationship. In short, Grassley wants to know if American tax dollars were being sent to Mexico while the DEA and FBI were tolerating Garca Luna's corruption.

Note: This case adds to the evidence that the War on Drugs is a trillion dollar failure. For more along these lines, see concise summaries of deeply revealing news articles on government corruption from reliable major media sources.

[An article Ivan from Slovakia translated into English for Gumshoe. This was in the email: The overall political situation makes him a bit nervous; but on the other hand, the self-confidence of Russia, together with China, and an evident loss of self-confidence by the US, means the correct shift of the overall positions. The Russia/China axis looks likely to become the new main axis, with the US falling a level below. I dont qualify at all "IndyWatch Feed National"

Answers in Genesis is looking for a full-time high school science teacher. Im not looking for a new job, but even if I were, Im stunned by how supremely unqualified I am for this position.

The qualified individual must be an evangelical Christian committed to living a biblical lifestyle in all areas and in full agreement with the schools statement of faith. The teacher is expected to be in alignment with the science and biblical positions held at Answers in Genesis and able to teach science from a biblical worldview in the classroom. The teacher must also be able to distinguish operational vs historical science as well as be able to articulate the evolutionary beliefs correctly while being able to refute them biblically and scientifically. The teacher must also have a good understanding of AiGs presuppositional apologetic approach and know how to incorporate it in the classroom.

The teacher shall be one who feels called of God to the teaching profession. The teacher must maintain a teachable spirit while demonstrating patience, humility, integrity, and kindness while performing his/her day-to-day duties. He/she must be devoted to prayerfully work with administration, faculty, students, and parents to develop and maintain a school which is thoroughly Christian and academically exceptional. The teacher shall prayerfully help students learn attitudes, skills, and subject matter that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible Christians to the glory of God.

I dont meet the requirements in a single sentence of that summary. Of course, nowhere in there does it say anything about degrees or training or experience, all that matters is conformity to the peculiar notion of science held by AiG.

Oh, at the end of the long list of detailed stuff, almost every bit of it about theological purity, there is a passing mention of what I might expect for qualifications of a real teaching position.

It is expected for the teacher to:

  • Hold a minimum of a bachelors degree or equivalent in related field
  • Have completed student teaching and/or other educational field experience.

It is preferred (but not necessary) for the teacher to:

  • Have two or more years of classroom teaching experience.
  • Have a current teaching certificate from a Christian school association and/or State Teaching Certificate in Education.
  • Have a...

Australia: Outsourced to the US Military Establishment "IndyWatch Feed National"

Its a very funny thing. In the US, the provision of services in such industries as security and intelligence is outsourced in a sprawling complex of contractors and subcontractors. In Australia, the entire military and security establishment is outsourced to Washingtons former mandarins, many of them earning a pile in consultancy fees. This, perhaps, is what Australias Defence Minister Richard Marles means when he talks about the Australian Defence Force moving beyond interoperability to interchangeability.

The list of recipients is depressingly long, and suggests that Australia has ceased to have any pretensions of sovereignty in defence matters. Take, for instance, the appointment of US Vice Admiral William Hilarides to the post of reviewing the future of the Royal Australian Navys surface fleet, for which he is pocketing US$4,000 a day. Since 2016, he has received US$1.3 million in contracts from the Australian government.

Hilarides featured in a story by the Washington Post last year, which revealed that two retired US admirals and three former US Navy civilian leaders were playing critical but secretive roles as paid advisers to the government of Australia during its negotiations to acquire top-secret nuclear submarine technology from the United States and Britain.

It gets worse. Six retired US admirals are identified as having offered their services to the Commonwealth since 2015. Hilarides was particularly keen, having retired a mere two months before seeking permission to advise the Australians on how best to extend the life of its Collins Class submarine fleet.

US Navy officials had few problems with the application, approving it within five days and forwarding it to the US State Department, which treated it as a mere formality. Hilarides, in his application, stated that he would be receiving money from a contract between the Australian Commonwealth and the consulting firm Burdenshaw Associates, based in Fairfax City, Virginia. The same firm has received US$6.8 million from the Australian taxpayer since 2015.

In a statement provided to the paper, the Australian Department of Defence revealed that Hilarides, another admiral Thomas Eccles, and a number of those on the Commonwealths Naval Shipbuilding Expert Advisory Panel, were furnishing Canberra with expert advice on the performance of the naval shipbuilding...

The Myth of the COVID-19 Pandemic and other lies Canadian Patriot with Denis Rancourt "IndyWatch Feed National"

denisrancourt | April 22, 2023

In this Canadian Patriot Podcast, Dr. Denis Rancourt explains his published findings and methods demonstrating the popular fallacy that a covid-19 virus had caused vast death prior to the vaccine rollouts in 2021. In fact, not a single death anywhere in the world can be provably tied to COVID-19, but rather the criminally incompetent (and likely intentionally criminal) protocols deployed from above nation states. Dr. Rancourt explains the real reasons for the increase in all-cause mortality across the world with a focus on the USA, Australia, Israel and India which occured only after the vaccine rollout began. A discussion on Faucis admission that he was wrong about masking protocols and the broader corruption in academic research over the past decades is also explored.

Port Kembla no place for a nuclear subs base, say local campaigners "IndyWatch Feed Nsw"

28 Apr 23,  https://solidarity.net.au/highlights/port-kembla-no-place-for-a-nuclear-subs-base-say-local-campaigners/

Activists in Wollongong are organising against plans for nearby Port Kembla to host the East Coast base for the AUKUS nuclear submarines. Solidarity spoke to Alexander Brown from Wollongong Against War and Nukes about local opposition and how unions have dedicated this years May Day march to opposing the plan

The cost is around $10 billion for an East Coast submarine base. The Treasurer says they cant afford the $24 billion required to increase Centrelink payments above poverty levels and yet they can afford to spend $10 billion on a war base. And thats a small part of the overall $368 billion dollars for AUKUS. Its a gross waste of money.

The strategic justification for it doesnt make any sense. Thats being picked apart even within the Labor Party by people like Paul Keating and Bob Carr. Were now seeing current sitting MPs start to express criticism. The submarines may arrive in between ten to 30 years, when their supporters in ASPI and the Sydney Morning Herald say were about to have war with China in the next three years. If so th...

AUKUS nuclear submarine cost includes 50% fund for unexpected overruns "IndyWatch Feed Nsw"

SYDNEY, April 28 (Reuters) Reporting by Kirsty Needham; Editing by Robert Birsel  https://www.reuters.com/business/aerospace-defense/aukus-nuclear-submarine-cost-includes-50-fund-unexpected-overruns-2023-04-28/Australias defence minister said on Friday the government was being upfront and transparent about the cost of its AUKUS nuclear submarine programme, after an analysis showed the forecast A$368 billion cost included a 50% contingency fund.

The Greens party, which commissioned the analysis by the Parliamentary Budget Office, said it showed the huge uncertainty over the project.

U.S. President Joe Biden, Australia Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak unveiled details in March of a plan to provide Australia with nuclear-powered attack submarines, a major step to counter Chinas ambitions in the Indo-Pacific.

Under the deal, the United States intends to sell Australia three U.S. Virginia class nuclear-powered submarines, which are built by General Dynamics, in the early 2030s, with an option for two more.

In a second phase, Australia and Britain will build an AUKUS class submarine, with Australia receiving its first submarine in the early 2040s. The vessels will be built by BAE Systems and Rolls-Royce.

Australias Parliamentary Budget Office has reported the cost estimate over three decades includes a contingency of A$123 billion. A contingency is a future cost not currently known due to delays, budget overruns and other factors.

Greens Senator David Shoebridge said in a statement the scale of the contingency fund was unprecedented and highlighted the huge level of uncertainty in the AUKUS submarine deal.

Chernobyl anniversary offers a bleak look at what may await other Ukrainian nuclear plants "IndyWatch Feed Nsw"

A huge steel and concrete sarcophagus covers the site of the meltdown. Under its dome, called the New Safe Confinement, lie 200 tons of lava-like nuclear fuel, 30 tons of highly contaminated dust and 16 tons of uranium and plutonium that continue to release high levels of radiation.

April 26, 2023 by Charles Digges  https://bellona.org/news/nuclear-issues/2023-04-chernobyl-anniversar

A little over a year ago, Russian troops abandoned Chernobyl after briefly occupying it during the grim opening days of Moscows invasion of Ukraine. The takeover of the site where the worlds worst nuclear disaster happened thirty-seven years ago this week offered a preview of the reckless disregard for nuclear safety that has characterized so much of this war.

While the site has been left to Ukraine to painstakingly restore since the Russian withdrawal on March 31, 2022, the new anniversary of the Chernobyl plants original disaster on April 26, 1986, leaves lingering questions about what, exactly, the world can do when Ukraines nuclear infrastructure or indeed any nuclear infrastructure is attacked by a hostile neighbor.

The answer, at this point?  Not much aside from trying to pick up the pieces after the damage is already done.

As it stands, the Chernobyl exclusion zone is still dotted with mines planted by Russian troops when they rolled into the territory, churning up clouds of radioactive dust with hundreds of heavily armored vehicles. The mines have made treacherous any efforts to restore the territory.

Russian troops also dug trenches and set fires in an area known as the Red Forest a gnarled expanse of irradiated trees and scorched, according to NASA, some 14,000 hectares of land, filling the air with so much radioactive smoke that it was unsafe for firefighters to quell the blazes.

All the while, hundreds of Chernobyl employees who oversee the sites sprawling network of spent fuel storage facilities as well as the enormous efforts to dismantle the radioactive remnants of the exploded No. 4 reactor were held hostage onsite, prevented from rotating out at the end of their shifts. Five workers were kidnapped and nine were killed, according to The Washington Post.

A NJ Pastor-politician is Gunned Down, and a Community Reels

By MARYCLAIRE DALE

SAYREVILLE, N.J. (AP) Nicole Teliano used to play games on her phone in the mayors office while her mother worked down the hall several evenings a month, tending to the tedious, often acrimonious task of serving in local government.

The 11-year-old girl didnt mind sharing her mother, Sayreville Councilwoman Eunice Dwumfour, with the nearly 50,000 residents of the central New Jersey town, the young people she nurtured as a pastor of a prosperity gospel church in Newark or the Nigerian church colleague she married in a festive ceremony in Abuja in November.

Well, my mom was a little bit of extra, so I could share a little bit. There was enough to go around, Nicole said in a family interview with The Associated Press this month.

Now, friends and loved ones are asking for help figuring out who gunned down the charismatic 30-year-old Dwumfour outside her Sayreville home on Feb. 1. The case is reverberating from New Jersey to West Africa, with touchpoints including politics, religion and money that echo across continents.

Authorities arent saying much. Dwumfours parents and new husband Peter Ezechukwu, who hoped to join his wife in the United States this spring but instead came for her funeral, are frustrated by the ongoing silence. The Middlesex County Prosecutors Office said it recognizes their concerns but needs to protect the integrity of the investigation.

Eunice was too good of a person to let (her death) go unanswered, Mayor Victoria Kilpatrick said at a Feb. 8 memorial service, where hundreds mourned the stylish preacher known as Pastor Eunney_K.

That smile of hers, Kilpatrick said, is not going to let us give up.

Wet and windy weekend forecasted for Illawarra "IndyWatch Feed Nsw"

GET ready for a wet weekend as a low-pressure system brings rain and windy conditions to the Illawarra.

The storm is expected to hit tonight, with the Illawarra and Sydney to bear the brunt of the storm.

Wollongong City Council has four sites across the city where residents can fill sandbags.

Each site will be open from 12pm today (Saturday April 29) and people will need to bring their own shovels.

A significant cold front is forecast to cross the southern and central parts of the state today, bringing increased showers and cooler temperatures to most parts. A low pressure system is then expected to develop near shore off the southern half of the NSW coast later today or early Sunday, before weakening and moving away during Monday.

The Bureau of Meteorology has forecasted a very high chance of rain, most likely during this afternoon and evening. Heavy falls are possible near the coast tonight.

Sand deliveries will be taking place across the morning at the four sandbag collection points:

  • Rex Jackson Oval, Helensburgh
  • Bellambi Boat Ramp overflow car park
  • Fairy Meadow Beach car park
  • Fred Finch Park Playground (Berkeley)

A Council spokesperson said sand is supplied for residential use only. Where sandbags arent available, the SES recommends the use of empty heavy-duty garbage bags, grocery bags, pillowcases or gr...

2023 Statement from Marius Mason "IndyWatch Feed National"

Statement from Marius Mason on June 11th, a day of solidarity with long-time anarchist prisoners.

Dear Community, Family and Friends,

Thank you for the work you are doing to make the change we need to make into the world for our collective survival. Your dedication, support and love are a constant source of inspiration and motivation for me; and I am betting for other prisoners, as well.

This has been as eventful year and a half here at FCI Danbury. My transfer to a male facility had been viewed with great trepidation both by those supportive of trans people and by those who are adamantly opposed to our existence. Ive had many memorable experiences; some humiliating, some merely annoying and awkward. But, also several that have been rewarding and deeply affirming.

There has definitely been a sense of working things out as we gothe way strip searches have been conducted has been all over the board. Sometimes they have been done by one male staff person, sometimes by one female staff person and several times by several male staff people. Strip searches occur before and after visits, before and after medical trips out, and also when going into the SHU (I had to go there before a medical procedure to fast).

I missed one that was conducted down at the Rec when a fight between inmates was suspected. For the most part, as embarrassing as strip searches can be (they definitely trigger my dysphoria), most staff have been professional about them. There have been some unprofessional remarks made on occasion, though, that have been dehumanizing and dispiriting, but actually have happened a lot less often than I was expecting. A nice surprise.

Mostly, I have been able to navigate what negativity and attempted exploitation there has been, taking it as the cost of admission to this new circus. I am determined to make progress on my transition, and have appreciated the opportunity to keep growing in my social transition and to make all the benchmarks necessary for satisfying the requirements that the BOP has set. For the most part, I keep it moving and accent the positive and eliminate the negative.

There has been a lot of positive movement in my transition to a predominantly cis-male-identified prison. While there are about six transwomen here that I have met, and one gender fluid person, I have yet to meet anyone else who identifies as a trans man at this prison. I did know about eight transmen at Carswell, where I was placed in Texas. Being in this population, there has been a lot of opportunity to discuss trans issues with people. They ask a lot of questions, some related to trans policy and some personal to my situation. Other questions make me laugh as they are blunt and impertinent, but honest curiosity is important to helping with trans visibility and acce...

Quote of the Month "IndyWatch Feed Northcoast"

..weve all had our lived experiences of floods of varying intensities. Now as intelligent human beings I think we can do better than what weve been doing.

We continue to build on floodplains and expect somehow some sort of different result.

We talk about flood resilience and flood resilience is not living with its fingers crossed-type mentality.

Fingers crossed that it doesnt rain too hard, too much. Fingers crossed that when it does the supermarket shelves are not stripped out. Fingers crossed that we can evacuate ourselves and if we cant, fingers crossed the SES is going to come and look after us. And fingers crossed that if I do need medical help or to get out of Yamba, that road is not broken by flood water.

Colombia: Scientists explore remote seamounts to protect hammerhead sharks "IndyWatch Feed National"

In 1995, when Colombia protected the island of Malpelo by setting up the Malpelo Fauna and Flora Sanctuary, the area had a recorded 43 species of crustaceans, six species of starfish, and 70 species of fish. These figures, the only ones available, were from 1972, when the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute led its first expedition to the island. Over time, scientists carried out more expeditions, and the number of recorded species grew. By 2016, the National Natural Parks System of Colombia had cataloged 1,500 animal species in the area. Nine of them are not found in any other part of the world and about 40 species are threatened or vulnerable, according to a parks system press release. Yet a large part of the life cycle and the ecology of some of these species remained unknown, especially for migratory species like the scalloped hammerhead shark (Sphyrna lewini), which visits the island frequently. For example, no one knew the routes by which the sharks in this population move through the sea, how deep they swim, where else they congregate, the locations of all their breeding areas, or their relationships with other populations of scalloped hammerheads. Today, after more than 20 years of work, researchers from the Malpelo and Other Marine Ecosystems Foundation, a Colombian NGO, have found answers to some of these questions. United within a strategic ecosystem Malpelo Island is Colombias westernmost point, located about 500 kilometers (310 miles) off the Pacific port city of Buenaventura. John Paul Tasker  CBC News   April 26 2023

Anti-nuclear activists and a cross-partisan group of MPs urged the federal government Tuesday to drop its support for nuclear energy projects, calling the energy source a dirty, dangerous distraction from climate action.

SMR technology is still in its infancy and it isnt widely used around the world.

As of 2022, there were only three SMR projects in operation one each in Russia, China and India  according to the International Energy Agency.

There are dozens of others under construction or in the design and planning phase including one at Ontario Power Generations Darlington nuclear site.

Finance Minister Chrystia Freelands recent federal budget included a generous tax credit to spur clean energy development, including SMRs.

The industry lobby group, the Canadian Nuclear Association, has said the 15 per cent refundable tax credit is a recognition by Ottawa that nuclear power is a fundamental and necessary component of Canadas low carbon energy system.

Susan ODonnell, a professor and a member of the Coalition for Responsible Energy Development in New Brunswick, said Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his cabinet are getting bad advice about nuclear energy.

The nuclear industry, led by the U.S. and the U.K., has been lobbying and advertising heavily in Canada, trying to convince us that new SMR designs will somehow address the climate crisis, ODonnell told a press conference on Parliament Hill on Tuesday.

She said SMRs will produce toxic radioactive waste and could lead to serious accidents while turning some...

Perthes Warns of Negative Impact of Khartoum Fighting on Darfur Region

A picture released by activist on 25 November showing a village burning in Jebel Moon Area of West Darfur

April 25, 2023 (KHARTOUM) UN special envoy to Sudan sounded an alarm bell of the negative impact of the fighting in Khartoum on the rest of the country, citing the resumption of tribal clashes in West Darfur as one area of concern.

Volker Perthes, on Tuesday, briefed the 15-member council for the second time about the situation in Sudan after the eruption of war in Khartoum between the national army and the Rapid Support Forces on April 15.

Perthes reviewed the security situation in Sudan and said that the Darfur region is the most affected by the hostilities in Khartoum pointing to North, South and West Darfur states.

He said a ceasefire brokered by the state authorities ended tribal fighting in North Darfur, while initiatives partially stopped the fighting in some localities of South Darfur but continued in the state capital Nyala.

Perthes underscored that the fighting between the national army and the paramilitary forces which originate from Darfur resumed in El Geneina near the Chadian border on Tuesday with increased involvement of tribal components.

He went further to speak about reports of mobilization by some tribes and some armed groups stressing that this escalation could draw in Sudans neighbouring countries.

I renew my call on all communities to maintain their neutrality and refrain from taking sides, Perthes urged.

The West Darfur State witnessed recurrent clashes between the Arab and Massalit tribes during the past three years.

A senior West Darfur state government official told Sudan Tribune that The clashes in El Geneina between the army and the RSF have turned into tribal conflicts between Arab and African groups.

The fighting began on Monday when gunmen believed to be affiliated with the Sudanese Alliance Forces, led by State Governor Khamis Abdallah, attacked the command of the RSF Sector in El Genein...

Holiday letting cap should be 60 days, across the Byron Shire, says IPC "IndyWatch Feed Northcoast"

The long-awaited report by NSW Independent Planning Commission (IPC) into Byron Shire Councils planning proposal around holiday letting has been released, with commissioners recommending a 60-day cap on non-hosted holiday letting across the Byron Shire, instead of Councils 90-day proposal.

And Councils proposed precinct model, which would allow non-hosted Short-Term Rental Accommodation (STRA) all year round, was unsupported, and could be scrapped if the new NSW Labor government adopts the findings.

Then Planning Minister, Anthony Roberts (Liberal), requested the IPC intervene with Councils plans the day before they were unanimously adopted by councillors on December 14, 2022.

Advice from Roberts was sought on Short Term Rental Accommodation (STRA) and related housing and rental affordability and availability issues in the Byron Shire local government area (Byron Shire).

Residential V non-hosted STRA

Extensive community consultation followed.

The report reads, As required, the report focuses on planning considerations that are relevant to the tension between using residential properties for non-hosted STRA and ensuring the availability and affordability of long-term rental housing in the Byron Shire.

The housing market and housing pressures are different in Byron Shire than in other Australian locations, and the social impact of non-hosted STRA is more significant.

The cost of purchased and rental housing has increased significantly, outpacing growth in regional NSW and Sydney and dwarfing average gains in household income.

Rental properties are not affordable for lower income households, with half the Byron Shire renters experiencing rental stress.

On the supply side, new housing stock and land releases planned under a suite of existing local and state-level housing policies have not proceeded at a rate that matches demand and community need.

According to the NSW Department of Planning and Environment, 8.5 per cent of Byron Shire housing stock (approximately 1,300 properties) is currently registered for use as non-hosted STRA. This exceeds that of other urban and coastal NSW locations, even acknowledging the pre-existing use of housing in the area for holiday homes.

Under Recommended alternatives, the IPC say, The Commission finds that a more equitable sharing of both impacts and benefits can be achieved for Byron Shire using the available regulato......

Are we finally getting ratios for nurses and midwives? "IndyWatch Feed Northcoast"

The NSW Nurses and Midwives Association (NSWNMA) has welcomed an announcement by the NSW government that there will be a Safe Staffing Working Group an historic step towards implementing nurse-to-patient ratios in NSW public hospitals.

The working group will see NSWNMA representatives working alongside NSW Health officials to plan the rollout of a shift by shift staffing model for nurses and midwives, starting with Emergency Departments.

Significant reforms

NSWNMA General Secretary, Shaye Candish, said this announcement from NSW Premier Chris Minns and NSW Health Minister Ryan Park will pave the way for the significant reforms urgently needed to repair the broken staffing system. We welcome the opportunity to work collaboratively with the NSW government to undertake this important reform.

This working group will lay the groundwork for the ratios weve campaigned for over many years. Were eager to work through the staffing requirements and how this phased approach will be implemented.

The introduction of ratios will bring a level of transparency to staffing levels for each shift so nurses and midwives can turn up to work confident there will be enough staff in the relevant wards.

Reaching a turning point

Ms Candish said nurses and midwives have been calling for urgent action for far too long. Finally weve reached a turning point now with a state government that is listening to our members and taking vital steps that will actually deliver for nurses, midwives and patients.

NSWNMA Assistant General Secretary, Michael Whaites, said the commitment made by the NSW government is a critical reform needed for the workforce. This announcement today is very encouraging as it shows the NSW government is genuinely committed to reform by implementing their safe staffing policy.

A successful roll-out

Were looking forward to working through the detail with the NSW government to ensure the roll out is a success.

Mr Whaites said its important that the process of implementing ratios is done in a way that works for both members and patients.

This brings the hope we know is needed to ensure nurses and midwives stay in the workforce and will also assist in recruiting more staff into the system.

Shearwaters lost in the big city lights "IndyWatch Feed Northcoast"

More than 20 Shearwaters are holidaying on the Gold Coast after being seduced by the bright light. Photo supplied.

The Currumbin Wildlife Hospital has reported they have more than 20 Shearwater birds in care after being disorientated on their annual northern migration along the East coast of Australia.

It appears that the bright lights of the Gold Coast city skyline have confused the young native birds who are now recuperating at the facility foruntil theyre well enough to be released back into the wild.

It is hoped they will continue their migration towards Papua New Guinea and the Philippines.

Senior Vet at the Currumbin Wildlife Hospital, Dr Michael Pyne, said its understood these birds use the stars to somewhat guide them on their migration up from the Southern states. Every year the bright night lights of the Gold Coast cause the same problems for them, and we see an influx into the hospital.

Dr Pyne said the majority of the birds just needed some time to rest and recover but are otherwise in good health.

If anyone finds a Shearwater bird in distress, please contact Currumbin Wildlife Hospital on (07) 55340813.

How like the kiwi we are "IndyWatch Feed Nsw"

What has become clear 1is that evolution is driven by consiousness likely the equal of our own vand is certainly not limited by physical brain size.  It is also clearly here that, and particularly in this item that
evolution will test the physical limits.

Yet recall, that multicell adaptation is remarkably finite.

So given finite choices, we see our lifeway repeated because it is handy.

Kelp forests contribute $500 billion to global economy, study shows "IndyWatch Feed Nsw"

Forests of golden kelp, a type of brown seaweed that grows in cooler waters, weave along the coastline of southern Australia. But many people arent even aware that its there, says Adriana Vergs. I live in Sydney its Australias largest city and it has absolutely gorgeous kelp forests, Vergs, a professor of marine ecology at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) in Sydney, tells Mongabay. But people in Sydney know more about the Great Barrier Reef than they know about their local kelp forests. Vergs says theres also a lack of understanding about what kelp does and the value it holds, even though kelp forests play an important ecological role, acting as the biological engine of temperate reefs. A new paper published in Nature Communications, co-authored by Vergs, aims to fill some of these knowledge gaps by identifying the economic value of marine kelp forests. It suggests that kelp forests across the world provide three main ecosystem services worth billions of dollars annually: the boosting of fisheries production; the removal of excessive nutrients like nitrogen and phosphorus from the water; and the sequestration of carbon dioxide.
